As someone who has spent most of his lifetime working in television, I find it odd that there are two Hollywoods. The famous one is filled with wealthy writers, directors, actors and production executives, 99% of whom are liberals, all of whom naturally regard themselves as populists, standing shoulder to shoulder with the working stiff. What isnt so widely known is that when it comes to the caste system, whatever its status in modern day India, its alive and well out here. Go on any movie or TV sound stage and youll find that among Hollywoods untouchables, those who dont pop up on award shows or in the tabloids -- the grips, the costumers, the camera crew, the wranglers, the stunt people, the technicians -- the percentage of conservatives is roughly 99%.

Ugh. You're right. I think their site must have gone down.
I'm not so sure. I remember the Academy Awards back in 2003. When Michael Moore went on his anti-Bush tirade, it was the grips, sound people, camermen et al. who booed him off stage, while the likes of Harrison Ford, Calista Flockhart and Lou Gossett smiled at every word.
No problem. I just became intrigued by the excerpt and wanted to read the rest of it. :)

It is kind of weird how that paragraph is just stuck in the article. He doesn't really do anything with it other than state it.
