Mexico Upset with Border Wall
12/ 22/05 | Bob Haran

Posted on 12/22/2005 12:24:27 PM PST by Bob Haran

Mexico thinks it has a right to criticize the U.S. plan to build a 700 mile wall on our southern border to keep out people entering our country illegally.

Mexican Foreign Secretary Lois Derbez says that Mexico has asked the governments of Central American nations along with Columbia and the Dominican Republic, "To join in the fight and to denounce the measure passed by the U.S. House of Representatives to build a wall," on our side of the border with Mexico.

I find it to be the height of arrogance for the foreign ministry of any nation to criticize what we do to secure our own borders. Frankly, it's none of their business. If we want to build a fence, a wall or a moat for that matter on our side of the border, that's our business, we don't need Mexico's or any other nations permission, the United States, is a sovereign nation.

As an American citizen, let me say this as diplomatically as I possibly can.

Your Excellency, The Foreign Secretary of Mexico, Lois Derbez, "Go to hell."

US-Mexico Border is about 2100 miles long. First funding installment is for fence complexes to block all the easy-to-cross stretches and give the illegals the choice to cross in more isolated and desolate spots or stay home. Hopefully, they would choose the latter.

Congress will get to the rest of the border as needed in later fiscal years.

Don't really know what it is. I've heard it was a wall. I could be wrong.

Frankly, they should build a tall concrete wall with razor wire on the top and armed guard posts every quarter mile on top of this wall. It should be built on the border of EVERY state that borders Mexico. This wall should be wide enough to prevent folks from chipping away at it and go deep enough to discourage digging under it. Hey, if the Great Wall of China can be built, then this measly thing I'm suggesting shouldn't be a problem!

I know. I know. I'm dreaming BIG TIME!!!

It would make me feel better if the wall was going to be equipped with guard towers and .50 caliber BMG's.

"Mexico Upset with Border Wall"

"I find it to be the height of arrogance for the foreign ministry of any nation to criticize what we do to secure our own borders. "

I will get flamed for this, but I agree with the Mexicans and Central Americans, but not because I am liberal or squishy about it.

These are not new problems. The illegal border issue has been going on for 30 years. 30 years. It is not the Mexicans, or the Central Americans, fault that they have become dependent financially on illegals. IT IS OUR OWN FAULT.

Don't get me wrong. We need to build the fence. But I believe they have a right to kvetch and react.

The analogy is a property easement. Most laws hold that even if the ingress was illegal, if the property owner let it happen, for whatever reason, then the owner has a legal duty to allow the person, or people, to continue unless compensation is made.

Again, I am not in favor of compensating the countries that send illegals. But we have been giving them these freebies, as a nation for three decades. We have been giving them free citizenship. We have been giving them taxpayer-funded educations, medical assistance, and welfare. I don't blame them for getting riled.

Just call me uncaring, but isn't it refreshing to see Mexico and it's citizens have to meet us half-way on the "UPSET METER", for once in a few decades?

If it upsets Mexico, it has to be good.

Build two walls.

You know, this might be the one project that we should hire the illegals to do work on...building the border fence!

If you want to send a comment to El Diario or El Noticiero, the E-mail address is editor@editorialmac.com. I'm sure these Mexican newspapers would like to hear from us Freepers. Freep em!

Sure, the US taxpayer is subsidizing the status quo corruption in Mexican government.

Mexico is not half as upset with the border wall as I am with Mexico's efforts to help it's unwanted poor to illegally enter my country.

The US dollars that illegals send home every payday are one of Mexico's largest sources of income. IIRC only crude oil brings in more. Fox is just upset that Congress may finally accept it's responsibility and force the administration to accept it's responsibility by enforcing immigration law.

How about a compromise. We will lay down a 1 mile wide strip of Cobalt-60 at the border except at legal points of entry.

They do have a right to criticize...and we have as a Nation, the right to tell them to have a nice steaming cup of STFU.
