Russia Builds Chinese Navy

Today, in Severodvinsk there will be a ceremony of delivery to China’s Naval Forces a submarine of project 636. Before the end of this year, China will receive another submarine and destroyer of project 956EM. The naval contracts for China amounted to almost half of Russian arms export this year.

Russian state mediator Rosoboronexport signed with the Chinese Defense Ministry the $2 billion contract for eight submarines of project 636 armed with missile complex Club-S on May 3, 2002. The contracts for building five subs were given to “Admiralty Shipyards,” to Sevmashpredpriyatie (two), and to Krasnoye Sormovo (one). The main submarine, which was built in St. Petersburg, the client received a year ago. Today, Sevmashpredpriyatie delivers to China its first sub. The second will be ready before the end of the year.

The arm export volume for the Chinese Navy will reach $2.2 billion this year. In St. Petersburg, North Shipyards will deliver the first destroyer 956EM for the Chinese. Rosoboronexport and Chinese Defense Ministry signed $1.4 billion contract for building two such ships in January of 2002.

Currently, China is building its own destroyers. For instance, shipyards in Shanghai and Dalyan in the last five years put on the water five destroyers of different projects and four more are being built. According to some information, naval design company North PKB was participating in designing new Chinese destroyers. These Chinese ships of project 052B are armed with Russian-made missile complex Still, and destroyers of project 051C –with more lethal complex S-300EF Reef-M.

Not surprising.......I think we are seeing a new "Axis of Evil": China-Russia-Pakistan-Iran-other assorted Islamofascists. Interestingly, the ChiComs have been developing roads, building infrastructure, and generally buying influence in Africa. I think this last step is designed to increase Chinese influence in the UN and create puppet states in the process.

Deploy the Seawolfs to hunt and kill their subs NOW. Send the converted Ohios, SSGN 726 and the SSGN 72, on their "shakedown" cruises early next year to the likely hot spots with a full compliment of sub and surface killer armaments, all of which were designed to kill precisely the Soviet Navy type craft being built.

Accelerate the deployment of the airborne laser 747s, just the way they did with JointStars in 1991. If we've got some test hardware for THOR put it up on a Delta now and get it operational. And set in motion, very publicly, plans to move the new F22A squadron to Japan.

Then call in all of the loans to Russia. If they don't pay up sieze their assets.

Russia by selling military stuff is keeping her military industry alive and makes some nice profit on top. It is better to sell weapons and have resources to build new ones than dismantle the military altogether.

Loans to Russia? Could you provide some sources?

The ChiComs as simply carrying on with Mao's plans for world domination.

If one could saddle the Chinese with all these basket cases as clients, the WW #V against them will be won at that very moment.

Russia Builds Chinese Navy -- and we pay for it!

What a deal!

Is this what the New Democrat Third Way "progressive" globalists and their useful idiots mean by "raising everyone's boat?" Is this the Davos world?

Look for "Stranded Chinese Sub Rescue" stories in the future.

When I left the world of ASW fifteen years ago, the Russians were building (thanks to the Walker spy family)some fine submarines. For the chicoms we aren't talking about dominance. All they need to do is deny the US Navy free movement in the waters east of Taiwan. A fleet of even old Kilo diesel/electric boats will keep aircraft carrier captains awake at night.

American aid in grain for which payment was deferred during the decades of the 60's 70's, 80's for starters.

Do a Google search for relevant information.

A watermelon is 97% water. A cloud is 100% water. therefore a cloud is 3% different from a watermelon by your tagline reasoning.

Yes, . . . but those $ figures are almost laughable.

Yes, they are laughable. That is why I do not believe them they tell the whole story. This is just a little snippet of published intel.

China has been on a 20 year tear to build a blue water navy. China has a rapidly growing economy. Dollars are flowing in, and they will need to project power just a few hundred miles off their coast. In a few years it is not inconceivable that they will have sufficient forces.

Given today's "perfect war" criteria of the chattering classes in which there are never US casualties, let alone the loss of a 15 billion dollar aircraft carrier, I fear that when the times comes we will come up with some excuse to sell out free and independent Taiwan.
