I've never been there, but my husband has while on business trips. He says the place is AMAZING!

> To be honest and not badmouthing this country's produce, New Zealand beef along with Australian plays second fiddle to US beef. Not as tender, and the flavour are pretty much identical, Australian and NZ beef is considered not as good as its US counterparts.
Yer kiddin' me mate, surely...!

As your screen-name suggests, "Trust, but Verify". Visit New Zealand and have the time of your life. Promise!

Mate, when lamb can taste better than the world's best beef, you *know* you are living in New Zealand, Godzone, otherwise known as Paradise!

Oh it is true. On average US beef costs about 1/5 more than their NZ counterparts if you buy them from meat distributors. If a kilo of New Zealand fillet costs about HK$250, it will be over HK$300 or more for US fillet.

Hmmmmmmm...
Could it be that here in NZ we keep all the good stuff for domestic consumption and ship the rest overseas? (seems unlikely but hey -- we are, after all, DownUnder, and everything works opposite down here...)
I've eaten the best beef that Montana and Texas and Alberta can offer, and I much prefer NZ beef by a very long shot. Ozzy beef is just as nice.
I guess it just proves that there is no accounting for taste. To each his own: I would hate to be a vegetarian anyrate!
