HIV Bombers. Al-Qaeda's plot to infect troops with AIDS virus
UK Mirror ^ | Jan. 8, 2005 | Rupert Hamer

Posted on 01/08/2006 3:53:00 PM PST by FairOpinion

AL-QAEDA is recruiting suicide bombers who are infected with the AIDS virus, according to documents revealed to the Sunday Mirror.

Terror chiefs are also targeting fanatics who suffer other lethal blood diseases such as hepatitis and dengue fever in order to increase their "kill rate" from an explosion. The chilling new threat is revealed in papers distributed to British military camps in Iraq and across Europe.

Under the heading "HIV/Hepatitis" the document states: "There is evidence that terrorists might be deliberately recruiting volunteers with diseases that are spread by blood transference."

Experts have found that bones and other blood-spattered fragments from a suicide bomber could penetrate the skin of a victim 50 metres away and infect them.

In the papers (part of which is summarised above) soldiers are warned to wear special protective clothing when on guard duty or if they have to deal with casualties in the event of an attack.

All bases must also have snipers hidden behind blast-proof defences ready to take out would-be suicide bombers. The guidelines were issued following the 7/7 London bombings which left 52 dead and injured hundreds more.

Spy chiefs have also examined other attacks, including a car-bombing on the Black Watch in central Iraq which killed three soldiers a year ago.

Last night an MoD spokesman confirmed that bases had been made aware of the new threat.

He added: "The Army go to great lengths to prepare our soldiers for every eventuality."

Biological and Chemical Weapons Bin Laden's Next Move?

In a recent article in Jane's Intelligence Review, Rand corporation expert Dr. Peter Chalk estimates that the capability to produce biological weapons has spread to at least 17 countries, citing indications that "sub-state terrorist organizations, including Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda, have an active interest in developing BT (bio-terrorism) capability."

U.S. administration officials who monitor bin Laden's activities warn that his terrorist organization is already working with weapons of mass destruction. Satellite pictures of dead animals on test ranges suggest that the terrorists have experimented with chemical or biological weapons at a training camp in eastern Afghanistan.

Testimony in a 1999 Egyptian trial of 107 suspected terrorists suggest that the al-Qaeda network might have negotiated to purchase biological weapons such as anthrax and the Ebola virus. A leading terrorist, associated with al Qaeda, said to a reporter during the trial that Osama bin Laden and his top aide, Islamic Jihad leader Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, had bought both biological and chemical agents and made a list of 100 U.S. and Israeli targets for such attacks.

The court was told that suspected terrorists connected to bin Laden had admitted to buying germ agents by mail for $3,865. Samples of the Ebola virus and salmonella bacteria were offered for sale to the bin Laden associates by factories in Eastern Europe. Another supplier in Southeast Asia made an agreement with the terrorists to sell "samples of anthrax", while a lab in the Czech Republic agreed to sell botulinum toxin for $7,500.

you are right... who is the misinformed "reporter"?

pass out hep c, most people will outlive their disease with very few complications

pass out hiv.... what is it a 10 year incubation? and thats if the virus is activated.

obviously these are effective short run tools with an efficient kill ratio

"It's very hard to fight a terrorist war without intelligence"

Thats what our liberals are doing, trying to dictate how to fight a war, when they have zero intelligence.

Hell, no need for terrorists to try to spread aids, the liberals want queers in the military!...sarc.

The point is that it would increase the demand by the US public and Dems in Congress to withdraw our troops NOW!

Obviously running away from Al Qaeda is the best defense (/sarcasm).

All AQ has to do is kill a few hostages, infect a few soldiers with some diseases and the US public obligingly surrenders and converts to Islam. Bin Laden is still operating on the evidence of their attack in Somalia -- a few people die, US obligingly runs home with its tail between its legs.

President Bush isn't going to do it, but if there is sufficient public outcry, he may not have a choice. AQ are fighting the public opinion war, where with the Dems help, they are gaining.

"...how are those diseases going to deliver any real punch to the US? They are too slow."

It's terror tactic intended to affect troop moral.

And it would take at least 20 years to ascertain the kill rate. I hope they're really as dumb as this. ;D

There was something awhile back about terrorists looking to use sick people to spread such fine diseases as smallpox and other fun diseases.

The sooner Al-Qaeda is annihilated, the sooner we don't have to find out whether they are seriously looking into this.

It could be effective as that. But I don't know how they're going to find any infected Muslims, as they are all pure followers of Allah. Maybe they'll tie them up and inject them with the virus.

Al Qaeda's Bio Weapons

WASHINGTON, March 31, 2005

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/31/terror/main684449.shtml

Al Qaeda had progressed much further toward developing a particular biological weapon before the Sept. 11 attacks than the United States realized, the presidential commission investigating intelligence on weapons of mass destruction found.

The intelligence community was surprised by al Qaeda's advances in a virulent strain in the disease, identified by the commission only as "Agent X" to prevent al Qaeda from knowing what the U.S. government has learned.

The discovery of al Qaeda's work came only after the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan removed the Taliban from power, the report says.

"Al Qaeda's biological program was further along, particularly with regard to Agent X, than pre-war intelligence indicated," the report says. "The program was extensive, well-organized, and operated for two years before September 11, but intelligence insights into the program were limited."

It was not so advanced that al Al Qaeda had a functioning weapon, the report says.

U.S. officials have previously said they found signs of al Qaeda's work in anthrax weapons in Afghanistan, but it was not clear if "Agent X" referred to anthrax. Other diseases that may be turned into weapons include smallpox, plague and ebola.

"We found that just prior to the war in Afghanistan in 2001, the Intelligence Community was able to correctly assess al Qaeda's limited ability to use unconventional weapons to inflict mass casualties," the report says. "Yet when the war uncovered new evidence of WMD efforts, analysts were surprised by the intentions and level of research and development underway by al Qaeda. Had this new information not been acquired, and had al Qaeda been allowed to continue weapons development, a future intelligence failure could have been in the offing."

We need to kill so many of them that they get depressed and/or demoralized to the point they announce a new DEVIL, and leave us alone.

There's an old saying, about getting folks to church that I think is aptly applied here with a bit of modification:

Each one get one ; )

Only in America, we're more generous. It's a 6 or 7 to 1 ratio, especially if we're flying.
