that makes Christians look stupid

I know what you mean. But, generally speaking, who cares if that's the case?

1 Corinthians 1:18 (NASB)
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

1 Corinthians 1:21 (NASB)
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NASB)
But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.

When unbelievers look at Christianity and decide it makes sense, something's wrong. :-)

I don't want a physical confrontation, and I never said I did. I want you, if you want to judge me, to come look me in the eye while you do it. The worst thing you would get out of it would be a tongue-lashing.

Well, then I surely and foolishly jumped to conclusions. I'm sorry.

Here's another viewpoint on the issue. It's more in line with my own view.

FIRST-PERSON: When marriage isn't God's will

I haven't noticed that happening much more on FR than on any other message board in existence. And I don't think women are evil or anything. I like women. I just don't have any particular desire to be in a relationship with one.

Your welcome. I take comfort that there is a best plan from each day of our life forward, regardless of the past. We only have to trust in God.

Paul was not married, children out of marriage IS a sin. Not that there aren't a score of sins we are all guilty of, that's the reason for the Christ!

God didn't add any money to that statement now did he. Mary only had one child....would the idiot say she was selfish?

I hate when people say that sh!t. the neighbor women had four children and all died before she did. What an idiotic thing to say.

Paul was not married

Exactly. And therefore, he was unable to reach spiritual maturity, according to what's been said here.

Thanks for the personal info, I am divorced with joint custody of our 10 yr old daughter. She is worth it all. I am in no hurry to find anyone, but have faith that one day she will appear when the time is right. Right now I only have time for my daughter as her mom has always been a trifle selfish. So I make sure she has clothes, does her homework etc.....

It's good to hear a happy ending...

We can agree to disagree...about the type of man who seeks foreign brides...at least in my experience, for example my father. He certainly did not in any way "control" my Mom nor was he a misogynist!

I would say that the rate of failures is probably less than for marriages among Americans - that stands at around 50%.

That's the way these jokers are. They can't address real issues so they invent sins in order to manipulate their "flocks."

Seems to me that Christ had something to say to them;

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

Matthew 23:15

To be honest I don't see a disconnect at all between the two - both address the fact that any relationship outside God's will is wrong. One is written from the point of view of singlehood - the other from the point of view of marriage.

I never did see where Mohler encouraged marriage outside God's will - he expresses his concern that many are not heeding God's call to marriage...

I do believe some are called to be single - we have a fellow in church in this situation - so far in his life it's apparent that he's not been called to marriage.. it doesn't affect his ability to serve in our local church ...
