3 Indicted in Calif. on Ecoterror Charges
Associated Press ^ | DON THOMPSON

Three environmental activists were cooking up plastic explosives and had planned to test a device the day they were arrested, federal prosecutors alleged Wednesday as they indicted them.

The three face five to 20 years in federal prison if they are convicted of conspiring to use fire or explosives to damage property.

The suspects planned assaults this spring in the name of the Earth Liberation Front, a 'loosey-goosey, sort of mist-of-the-fog kind of an organization' of environmental activists, U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott said.

Eric McDavid, 28, Zachary Jensen, 20, and Lauren Weiner, 20, remain in jail.

They could enter a plea at their arraignment Thursday.

Authorities said they were unknowingly working with an undercover FBI informant and living in a cabin rented by the FBI and wired for surveillance.

Their attempt to boil bleach into crystals ended when the glassware broke, prosecutors allege, and they were buying more when they were arrested Jan. 13 outside a Kmart in the Sierra foothills.

Three days before their arrests, the three scouted a dam and fish hatchery on the American River near Sacramento and toured McDavid's top target, the indictment says: the U.S. Forest Service's Institute of Forest Genetics, east of Sacramento.

Groups like the Earth Liberation Front are the FBI's No. 2 priority behind international terrorism.

The three are not known to be connected to 11 alleged ecoterrorists indicted in Oregon last week...

Horsedung. They are the terrorist arm of the environmental movement. There are connections all over the place to "mainstream" environmental groups and anarchists.

These people and their ilk need to be purged from society. They are spioled rotten anarchists plain and simple. Eco-terrorist are as low as pediphiles in my book. Both should be extinguished.

I have no sympathy for environmentalists, but I don't believe half of what I hear from prosecutors these days. Wait and see if they have hard evidence, or the testimony of a coerced witness facing another charge.

They have already locked up 11 others from California and Oregon. They couldn't have brought charges against any of these eco-whackos without evidence brought before a grand jury.

These people (ELF) will burn several new SUV's at a dealership and then tell us they did it for the environment. A scientist once noted that the pollution released from the torching of the SUV's was far greater than the pollution each vehicle would have emitted through its exhaust in 100,000 miles.

Lock them up and throw away the key. Those leftist idiots love gun control so much, so it's poetic justice that they be prosecuted under the National Firearms Act. Convict them for possession of unregistered Destructive Devices, terrorism, conspiracy, attempted murder, arson, and whatever else they can think of.

They actually caught these eco terrorists about 2 weeks ago.

These 3 were planning some very bad actions for the Sacramento area.

It is amazing how the left wing liberals in N California are siding with these 3 criminals and saying this is an example of how our WOT focuses on activists.

ROFL!

I may be mistaken, but I believe that one of Oregon's enviral governors got a law passed outlawing what was done in California ferret out these scumbags.
