This ran on FR a few days ago. That being said, who's Molly Ivins?

What kind of courage does it take, for mercy's sake? The majority of the American people (55 percent) think the war in Iraq is a mistake and that we should get out. The majority (65 percent) of the American people want single-payer health care and are willing to pay more taxes to get it. The majority (86 percent) of the American people favor raising the minimum wage. The majority of the American people (60 percent) favor repealing Bush's tax cuts, or at least those that go only to the rich. The majority (66 percent) wants to reduce the deficit not by cutting domestic spending, but by reducing Pentagon spending or raising taxes.

OK, whose @$$ did the writer pull these numbers out of?

The majority (77 percent) thinks we should do "whatever it takes" to protect the environment.

Until you tell them what it will take.

Ms. Ivins was in a clip they played on dnC-span this AM, for Katrina Vanden Whore and Ed Kilgore(?). I now see why Molly is such an unhappy person.

I'd be pissed off at the world too, if I had something like that looking back at me in the mirror.

Interesting poll results. Maybe they should widen the poll to beyond Austin.

The majority of the American people (60 percent) favor repealing Bush's tax cuts, or at least those that go only to the rich

That is a pretty big qualification to the original statement. I also like the 77% will do anything to save the environment. Okay, only one car per household. That would push the 77% down quite a bit.

Does miss Molly sound just a little bit like one of your DUmmie threads when everyone was ready to abandon the party because they weren't going to filibuster Alito? LOL I think we can call miss Molly a DUmmie.

Enough triangulation, calculation and equivocation. Enough clever straddling, enough not offending anyone This is not a Dick Morris election.

Shut up, stupid. They're all 'Dick Morris' elections, and the Dems don't care what you think. The DLC machine will decide the candidate and you'll do what you're told. Just send in your money and keep your opinions to yourself.

[A CNN/Gallup/USA Today poll last week found that 51% of Americans “definitely” would not vote for her and only 16% said they definitely would. Among men, 60% said they would not vote for her.]

Im actually sorry to see this. It would be so nice to see her get the party nomination and then get totally creamed in 11/08

Translation: "Hillary isn't enough of a fleck-mouthed demagogue." Ivins and her ilk continue to think that it's just a matter of punching their message through the mysterious barrier that's keeping it from the American public. If they scream loud enough, eventually we'll hear, they believe. The Republicans should only be so lucky as the Dems nominating someone more strident than Hillary Clinton.

"Her failure to speak out on Terri Schiavo..."

Far be it from me to defend Hillary Clinton, or to take her side at anytime, however what exactly did Ivens want her to say about Terri Schiavo? I can hardly believe she wanted Clinton to come out in favor of letting her live, so that leaves the option of Hillary Clinton, a woman cuckolded by her husband many, many times, to offer support to the idea that Schiavo's estranged and adulterous husband had the power to have her starved to death. Somehow I just don't think Hillary probably saw things just that way. So, she kept her mouth shut, and why shouldn't she have?

This Molly Ivens is a real moron, I don't think I've ever read anything by her before. And her stats have to be way out of wack, I seriously doubt 85% of the American people are in agreement on anything, much less raising the minimum wage.

Article: "Oh come on, people — get a grip on the concept of leadership. Look at this war — from the lies that led us into it, to the lies they continue to dump on us daily."

"The lies that led us..." makes the term "lies" so generic. Specify the lies and by whom the lies were asserted. This author has forgotten about the 9/11 terrorist attacks which is a "sin of omission" or a tacit "lie."

my favorite cartoon quip:

"I never had sex with that woman, Hitlerly Rodham Klintoon. NOT a single time!" = wee willie klintoon.

"HITLERey" has about the same chance as i do to be elected POTUS, ever. i.e., NONE!
