Robinson's "Twilight Zone" ad smacked by Keith Olbermann...two years too late.
MSNBC ^ | March 10, 2006 | Keith Olberman

Posted on 03/10/2006 10:34:44 PM PST by ConservativeGadfly

On Keith Olbermann's Countdown tonight, out of the blue he bashes 13th NC Congressional District Vernon Robinson's ad entitled "Twilight Zone".....except that the ad in question ran in Robinson's last race for Congress in 2004. Not quite sure what has prompted Keith's interest in the ad.....

The blurb that Keith ran can be found here: http://www.canofun.com/cof/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=17659

The clip linked above doesn't show the end of the segment when Olbermann bets five dollars that the ad is a spoof and probably never ran. In fact, the ad ran in a heavy, heavy media buy in North Carolina in 2004.

Interesting that the ad took two years to get Olbermann's attention.

I can't stand Keith. Way too smarmy.

But the ad is priceless.

This thread's views alone surpass Olberman's ratings last week.

Don't you mean it surpasses the entire ratings book for the ALL the shows on MSNBC combined? Heh heh heh heh heh...

But you HAVE to see the ad he has got his panties in a wad about. Good stuff.

The ad was mean-spirited.

And it's why he lost.

When Keith's ratings drop, he calls his relatives to chew them out.

Olbermann appears to be in an arrested development state. His obviously petty and envious antics about virtually everything, especially O'Reilly, are supremely adolescent and really puts me off.

Definitely not a serious contender in any league.

Did you watch O'Reilly when he started his show on Fox? Before the "Factor" gear and all of that junk? The guy actually was good at what he did. It must have gone to his head because his style really changed. For the worse.

I'm not an O'Reilly fan in the least but Olbermann is such a weasel he hits rock bottom. He is, as I said, just so petty and childish in his biases he makes Chris Matthews look downright objective and mature by comparison and that says it all about Olbermann IMO - A loser who somehow is allowed to occupy dead space on the airwaves.

Howlin', I love ya, but I disagree. The NC media tore Robinson limb from limb. Negatives that could not be overcome. The ad was bold as heck and there have already been copycat ads in other states. I am so worn out with the regular old political ads...not a stitch of originality and they insult your intelligence. Can't stand 'em.

There were many factors that went into the loss -- but let's not forget that he won a six way primary with five millionaires running (he even overcame the magical "Broyhill" name -- NO ONE thought he could beat that). Then the Southern tradition of run-offs kicked in as did a concerted effort to tear him limb from limb in the press and that was all she wrote.

The ad has rip-offs, copycats and not-too-distant cousins running all over the place. It was just the hard negatives that Robinson had to begin with. Heaven knows that a black conservative is a dangerous thing....nothing makes liberals more upset.

I stand by what I said; his ads were horrible and mean and fear mongering.

???
That ad was great. I remember watching it here at FR and showing to my family back in '04.
"Mean spirited"? Were you joking?

We'll just have to agree to disagree, I guess. I respect your opinion, Howlin. But I disagree, my friend.

Things must be slow over there... I bet he misses the Monica story NOW!

No, I thought it was mean and uncalled for.

And I really didn't like the one of the man in front of the buildings saying "He's here to murder you and your family" or something like that.

Like I said, fearmongering.

The leftist media repeated that mantra quite a bit in NC in 04. Their message points tend to stick after a while, I guess.

But I'm with you on this one, Lancey.

It was about the guy who had illegally crossed the Mexican border and was taking videos of buildings in downtown Charlotte (for 10K a pop from his terrorist buddies). Terrorists aren't in this country to "find a better way of life". They are here to kill you. That is the flat out truth.

What's your proof of that?
