Milosevic's death raises questions

The U.N. war crimes tribunal hopes an autopsy on Slobodan Milosevic on Sunday will clear up the cause of his death in his cell only months before a verdict was due in his four-year-old trial.

Milosevic, branded the "Butcher of the Balkans" for conflicts that tore Yugoslavia apart in the 1990s, was found dead on Saturday, prompting some world figures and relatives of war victims to say they had been robbed of justice.

As questions were raised as to why the trial had dragged on for so long, a tribunal spokeswoman said there was no indication the 64-year-old former Yugoslav president -- who suffered from a heart condition and high blood pressure -- committed suicide.

Milosevic's lawyer Zdenko Tomanovic told reporters his client had feared he was being poisoned but the tribunal rejected a request for the autopsy to take place in Russia.

This would be an Abu prison type of story, and would run front page for years, if they could only blame America, and especially President Bush.

Look for it to die quickly.

"prompting some world figures and relatives of war victims to say they had been robbed of justice."

He's dead, and a lot quicker than they were going to do it. That's not justice? They want to give him new life so he can get killed again years from now? I say grow up.

There were only two possible outcomes for Slobo when the trial started.

1) Guilty
2) Dead

They couldn't get to guilty thus...

I agree. At least they didn't put panties on his head.

The question it raises with me is who will be the first moron to suggest that Bill Clinton should be sent to the Hague. None of us like him but he was an American president end of story.

Are former national leaders not allowed to die quietly from excessive blubber and age or must all such deaths be suspected of being assisted?

Had not Milosevic called for Krintong to testify?

Arkancide?

I believe he did want Bent Willie to testify. Arkancide? Sure wish we could prove such. So does Vince Foster.

If we consent to Slobo being there, then why not Krintong? Let us note, if we haven't, and I certainly haven't seen it noted here, that the "criminals" tried at Hague are all Western white men, despite decades of of peace in the West, and unending slaughter in the so-called Third World. Slobo, whatever his crimes, has been small potatoes, compared to all the Idis, Pols and Mugabes, to mention just three, and there were many mor,e whose names we don't even care to remember, and the West hating MS won't help us in that. But ih, how they all suffered under "colonialism". In the end, it's all some or other white bush's fault, isn't it. Let's try the white men!

I was amazed when Fox News reported that Milosevic was a former "Soviet" leader who had "destroyed Europe." This is ironic on two counts: (1) Even Tito's Yugoslavia had sour relations with the Soviet Union, and (2) rightly or wrongly, the Serbs have traditionally considered themselves to be a bulwark protecting Europe from Islam, i.e. to prevent "camels from drinking out of the Rhine."

Last paragraph states:

Only a single wreath and two candles were placed.....

I saw over a hundred candles tonight on BBC television. I guess BBC got what they wanted anyway. These were placed by the dead man's sympathisers.

Irrespective of the crimes of Milosevic and whether the opposition terrorised and murdered Serbs, one must remember this. We were fed EXACTLY what the reigning powers decided we would be fed. This was done through the television tube. Two women stand indicted. Christianne Amanpour and Hilary Rodham Clinton- oh, for good measure throw in the Canadian high poobah, "the unindicted War Criminal"- Louise Arbour.

Isn't this the same place they want to try our soldiers for war crimes(a.k.a. putting pink instead of purple panties on a scumbags head)? That is like putting a bottle of Scotch in front of Kennedy.....it ain't gonna be alright! No thanks, I choose life.

Did he die on the toilet or something? I can't imagine why folks would care how he died...unless he pulled an Elvis and they didn't want that to get out.

That was the first thought I had, too! Maybe an Arkancide, since he was calling for Bill Clinton to testify? Just wonder what ol' Slobo was looking for Bill to say at the trial?!
