The strategic Muslim-majority Sandzak region of Serbia and Montenegro, which borders Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, has seen a marked increase in politicised Islam over the past few years. The trend is due to a variety of social and economic factors including political marginalisation, poverty and crime. Religious schools and an Islamic university are educating increasing numbers of young people, filling a vacuum left by failing republican and municipal administrations. There are also growing numbers of so-called Wahhabis who follow Islamic practices imported from Saudi Arabia. This group of predominately young men operating outside the traditional Islamic community, Islamska Zajednica (IZ), played a leading role in orchestrating February's flag-burning demonstrations in the region's capital, Novi Pazar, protesting against newspaper cartoons of the prophet Mohammed first published in Denmark. Political and social marginalisation is nothing new in the Sandzak, an ethnically mixed Bosniak-majority region that is considered along with Kosovo to be one of the few potential sources of conflict left in the territory of the former Yugoslavia. While Islamic radicalism remains largely a chimera for now, imams, international observers, Bosniaks (Muslim Slavs) and Serbs alike warn that disaffection with spiralling unemployment, crime and corruption could result in foreign forms of Islam gaining ever more adherents among a disillusioned younger generation.

What does that have to do with Croats or Serbs or moslems or communists? Can a person be simultaneously hypocritical and ignorant? Is this the kind of thinking commonly done in that region?
Hint: read the thread before you post inanities.

"I have seen a film depicting arrogant, laughing Caucasian LA cop sexually harrasing terrified upscale Afican-American couple and his partner subsequently murdering African-American teen. That was 2005."
The following claim is factually correct. It could be a reson for condemantion of the entire LAPD, Californians and Americans as a whole if it were not my account of the Academy-Award winning film "CRASH."
The film you refer to was aired on all tv channels last summer, but it was never authenticated by the forensic expert, nor it was admitted as material evidence in the ICTY genocide trial. Can you guess why? I'll let you guess three times...
Show me some statistics that demonstrate that the Bosnian Muslims killed more Serbs than the Catholic Croats did or shut up.
Moronic and ignorant you have been so far. Nevertheless the truth shall set you free.

Calling out Serb atrocities doesn't mean I'm pro-Muslim. Like I said in the original post - there are no clean hands in the Balkans.
I'm a Christian. I also believe we're fighting the good fight in Iraq. And we're doing it without mowing down civilians.
Seen this one before also. Like I said in the original post, there are no clean hands in the Balkans. I'm just pointing out that I'm not ready to whitewash the Serbs simply because they're fighting the same enemies we are. By that logic, we should all still be in love with Stalin.
You gotta keep reading silly. Historical objectivity requires a fuller reading than just the first paragraph. what are you - some freshman remedial ed type?
No need to get defensive. But facts are facts: Christian Serbs suffered and died in far greater numbers at the hands of Bosnian Muslims than vice versa.
Bear that in mind when making outlandish statements like the other dumbo posting here: the game boy Lejes.
I remember reading about that. I also remember reading that when the first Afghan veterans showed up to help the Bosnians in the mid-90's they were apalled because the Bosnian Muslims were a pretty unreligious lot - drinking, intermarrying, etc. I think the Bosnians got Islamicized pretty quickly and now are a danger, as pointed out by the number of Al Qaeda busts that have happened there in the past few years.
My point wasn't that the Bosnian Muslims were wearing the white hats. It was that there were no good guys in the Balkan wars - lots of atrocities all around. I'm not prepared to give the Serbs a pass simply because we're fighting the same enemy. The US has managed to fight a generally decent war in Iraq and Afghanistan - the Serbs didn't fight a decent one in the Balkans.
As I've said in earlier posts, pointing out Serb atrocities doesn't mean I'm pro-Muslim. I stick to my original point - there were no good guys in the Balkan wars of the 90's.
Since the tape has already been whored as the "proof" that the Serbs did commit "genocide" in Srebrenitsa, we might never know the truth.
Well in the film I saw the people being shot weren't armed, weren't in uniform, didn't look like they'd been in combat, and didn't even look old enough to have been in combat. They were just scared kids.
It was a brutal war. Both sides did stuff to be ashamed of. I feel sorry for populations that are so consumed with fear or hate that they can justify atrocities like that.
All I am saying is, after 13 years of lies and propaganda against the Serbs, I am very skeptical. I question everything I read.
