You are so right. Years back, we had a string of elderly women being raped (70+, I'm talking.) You're not too young, too old, too fat or too ugly to be raped, because rape is not about sexual attraction -- it's about power and control.

It's not true for any group. And nobody should be suggesting that citizens be required to get formal training, a license, and register their firearms, in order to possess, carry, and use them legally.
The "statistics" she quotes are garbage. The first big hole being that they exclude the vast majority of successful self-defenses with a gun that don't involve firing the gun. And the part about killing someone in your household? It certainly increases the number and percentage of domestic homicides that are committed with guns. However, like suicide, domestic homicides have a virtually 100% substitution factor -- in other words, if you're serious about killing a member of your own household, you can and will use whatever weapon you can get your hands on, since your victim will be readily available, and frequently off guard, sleeping, etc.
