The Mujahadeen has stressed that they were not responsable for her drivers death....hummmmmmm?

Hmmmm, indeed.

Why would they maintain that the translator was killed defensively? Who involved in this entire business would care about that, other than Jill Carroll? Unless she were complicit, why would they care what Jill Carroll thinks?

Something doesn't smell quite right here.

Frankly, I am very suspicious every time one of these anti-war lefties get's "kidnapped". I think it is pretty clear that both Sgrena and Osthoff were put-up jobs.

"There you go again ... thinking like a rational person.

The Jihadists like to kill. They are psychopaths and serial murderers that have been given a license to commit murder by their religion, its prophet, its writings and its priests."

Maybe I am being over-rational...

I was thinking that as a western journalist she would realize it would be harder to present her captors as good guys if the setup involved killing..

Check her underarms. If she has thick patches of greasy smelly hair she's a lib wacko.

Thanks for the info about the two groups - and that's good analysis.

She looked very unstable or drugged to me. She kept swinging her head around and wouldn't look directly at anyone. Then she kept messing with her scarf to make sure her hair didn't stick out. I wrote her off a a nut job.

I am told some women like to play S&M games and be spanked or beaten during sex. It takes all kinds to make a world . This one has issues.

>>...in a fake kidnapping for ransom.<<
--The demanded ransom was release of prisoners. This is collusion.

"I'm not buying it...how about you?"

Cynical person that I am, I've been suspicious about this from the moment she was released.

Well, I don't think she'll make any money on a book deal. Sounds too boring.

I am especially wary since her parents live in The People's Republic of Chapel Hill, NC.

You beat me to it...

and IIRC, wasn't a journalist released not too long ago who was later found to have received some of the marked ransom money into her own accounts?

This journalist is one of the anti-occupation journalists.

Thanks for this. The tear duct has become the chief organ of thinking for many.

I think her "abduction" is a result of her politics and a man.
In this case, it very well may be that "the boyfriend did it".
Please remember the German "hostage" who was found to have some of her own ransom money in her Berlin apartment, and the oh so dramatic rescue of the Italian Communist reporter who got the Italian diplomat killed at the American checkpoint.
These women went to Iraq with an agenda, and don't deserve one iota of sympathy from anyone. Indeed, they deserve prison for mass manipulation.

As for the driver, if my theory is correct, Jill Carroll is an accessory to murder.

Interesting information. I don't recall that a cash ransom was ever asked for her, though. I thought it was always about the alleged "female prisoners," regardless of who was holding her.

However, it wouldn't have been surprising if some Iraqi political party officials had been involved in this, since she was apparently perceived as sympathetic to their cause even before she was kidnapped. She had already begun wearing Islamic dress and, according to one report, normally used a Muslim name. Remember, she had been a reporter for the Jordan Times, an English language paper in Jordan, before going to Iraq and had, for her relatively young age, spent a fair amount of time in the ME and already adopted many ME cultural standards. (This is aside from the question of whether or not she was a leftist.)

Personally, I don't know. I'm not sure she was in on it from the start, as were the Italians and Japanese women, but at the same time, I don't think she's an innocent. I'm glad she's free, but I for one never thought she was in any real danger to begin with. Her Iraqi translator, on the other hand, was clearly perceived as a "traitor" and that was why he was shot.

As for the driver, if my theory is correct, Jill Carroll is an accessory to murder.

According to Jabberbonk, the kidnappers are saying they are not responsible for the Driver's death. I guess they don't understand the concept of "Felony Murder" over there.

How about this for a theory. Jill Carroll was going to interview some "insurgent" bigwig, and they planned to abduct her so they could keep his location a secret and maintain control of the interview. Unfortunately, her translator/driver was not in on the plan, and wound up dead.

At that point, what do you do? Jill Carroll can't very well say she got her driver whacked out of her own carelessness and stupidity. But if she were "kidnapped", everything would be different, wouldn't it?

Something stinks here.

Her statements now are strange. I'll hold off until she is out of Iraq and home for a week or two. THEN I'll begin to question her mental state. No one here has any idea of what they would say in hte hours following such an ordeal. If you think you do, you would be be wrong.

After a couple of weeks here, she will have conferred with a lot of people who will make sure she has her story straight. Frankly, I would be more inclined to believe what she says now.
