High School Kid Who Burned Mexican Flag Arrested And Charged With Arson
FreeRepublic ^ | 3/31/06 | kstewskis

Just got home from work, and was listening to Joe Crummy on KFYI interview one of the dads of the kids that burned the Mexican flag:

Apparently, his kid was arrested by AJ Police and was held in detention in Florence all day yesterday. CHarged with Arson. It took all of their savings to get a retainer for an atty.

It gets better. The family is now getting death threats. They were informed by police that there are those trying to find out where the family lives, and are going after them. AJ police stated to the father, there is nothing they can do about it, until someone actually shows up on their property.

Also, there was another kid from the school (Rod, who said he was a "future" Marine) read that letter from the school, forbiding any kid to wear any article of clothing resembling or representing a flag, no matter what country it represents.

He said emphatically, that he *will* wear the US Flag to school Monday.

Apparently this flag burning was near the ROTC table.

My respect for the kids in AJ have grown a hundred fold!

I'd be willing to be that burning a UN flag would carry a penalty as well.

-----the really interesting thing in cases like this
is how they will try to suggest that "it's not really the
same thing at all".

Absolutely outrageous!

I live in AZ. I think I'll wear my USA flag T-shirt today and put a flag sticker on my car. It's time to proudly wave the red, white and blue again, a la post 9/11.

Seriously, i'm thinking May 5th might not be a pretty day. There are a lot of hispanics in Denver, and the day usually has its share of violence anyway (drinking, cruising, ends up in fight and shootings). This year may be something to remember. I'll be home with the doors locked.

It belonged to someone else.

Nobody is going to claim that Mexican flag as their own.

The problem here is that he didn't burn his own property. It belonged to someone else. The Hate-America-First liberals buy their own flags (made in China, LOL), and then burn them.

The kids from another school who raised the Mexican flag OVER this kid's schools US flag on this kids schools flag pole also stole the schools state flag and destroyed and then they left.  It is reasonable this kid to assume that the Mexican flag was abandoned.  He removed it from it's improper place on the flag pole and disposed of it in the time honored traditional manner of disposing of a flag that has been treated so disrespectfully by others.

The kids on solid legal grounds, even assuming the question of free speach never comes up.

The charges will be dismissed but this family will be harrassed until someone dies or until they are driven out of town.  That's the heart of this story.  And the police won't do anything about.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

This situation is what this amendment to the Constitution was about.  Without the  citzens' right to organize to protect themselves no "professional police" can ever be trusted to protect them, because they simply won't or can't.  And if the so called professionals ever are powerful enough to protect the citzens from every threat then you have a police state.  You must orgznize it and regulate it properly, but it is a fundamental requirement of a free society.  It's only about the "arms" as a means to that end.

"I'll bet we could get him a GREAT lawyer if we worked at it."

We shouldn't have to - won't the ACLU be all over this?

I mean, aren't they all about protecting the "free speech" of flag-burners?

When was the last time someone burned a flag in protest and got arrested for arson?

The last time I heard of this happening was during the first Iraqi war in 1991, when war protesters were arrested for arson for burning American flags.

My god!
Now, imagine if the kid would have burned an American flag....

On second thought. This is a good thing. It is showing the average American what their government really thinks of them. Perhaps more incidents like this should occur.

A flag is still someone's property...

Any SOB that runs a foreign flag up an American flag pole has lost all ownership interest in that piece of trash. He's also lost any right to stand on American soil or breath American air. Removing an American Flag and raising a foreign flag in its place is an act of war. It always has been and always will be.

That flag was used to desecrate the symbol that so many Americans have died for and worse it was used to symbolize victory and dominance over American Soverignty. It had to be burned. I'm just glad there was someone brave enough to do the deed.

It doesn't matter if he gets convicted or not on the "arson" charge. The legal costs of mounting a defense will cost his family their house.

This is the local government's way of ensuring there will be no more anti-Mexican protest gestures

Now, all you have to do is persuade the judge.

Not to mention the personal safety considerations this family has now, because of this.

We've been infested by the L.A. gang mentality here now, thanks to these stinking little maggots.
