Abebooks.com is a web site where used booksellers list their books for resale on the Web. They are located in Canada but have a huge USA bookseller and customer base. To celebrate their 10th anniversary, they thought it would be swell to have a contest where booksellers would pass out special bookmarks in their orders and at local libraries and community centers featuring an slam on President Bush (see below). The first is to grab the reader's attention through the pure surprise and entertainment value of a unique book that doesn't seem real, and thereby inspire conversation and discussion. The campaign consists of a series of six ads using fictional titles, some by well known "authors."
The "Whoops! I was Wrong" title by G.W. Bush is not a real book, and the title can be interpreted in different ways. We realize this is controversial, but our testing showed it was unlikely to be offensive. We're confident it will achieve our objectives and lead to discussion.
We're sorry if you found the "Book" objectionable in any way, and we hope you'll enjoy some of the other book images more. Abebooks booksellers really do have the largest selection of new, used, rare and out of print books!
