Grand Jury to Hear McKinney Case (tomorrow)
WXIA-TV Atlanta ^ | 04.05.06 | Michael King

Posted on 04/05/2006 3:46:35 PM PDT by mhking

MSNBC reported late Wednesday afternoon that a grand jury would hear evidence against Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-4th Ga.) on Thursday.

No word is available on how soon a warrant may be issued against McKinney.

The Washington Post reports Capitol police want McKinney prosecuted on a misdemeanor charge of assaulting a police officer. The fourth district congresswoman has said she's a victim of racial profiling and insists she struck the officer after he touched her inappropriately.

Brian on Fox and Friends did not allow McKinney to play her games. When she would not answer his questions he just kept asking. He had the real no spin zone.

I saw the catfight with O'Brien (I think she's a ditz, but she did pretty good this morning), and McKinney's dance on "Today" (those are the tapes we had in house), and after the calls I made today, I'm pretty sure she's losing what little ground she had.

Wonder if the fix is allready in? They didn't need a grand jury to do this....but it will sound very convincing.

I saw this and think it's disgraceful that the prosecutor punted this to the GJ because he didn't want to make what would likely have been an unpopular decision to prosecute.

He's paid the big bucks to make those decisions and now he's letting some lowly female staffer who witnessed McKinney hit the police officer testify. So much for this prosecutor's manliness, imo.

McKinney originally apologized for hitting the police officer. The police officer says she hit him. At least one if not two witnesses said she hit him. There was no reason to send this to a GJ except for politics.

An An AP link to the story has these tidbits:

"Cynthia McKinney is a racist," Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, said on Fox News Channel's "Fox and Friends," a day after abandoning his reelection bid under a cloud of ethics charges. "She has a long history of racism. Everything is racism with her. This is incredible arrogance that sometimes hits these members of Congress, but especially Cynthia McKinney."

Good for The Hammer!

But she said Wednesday: "Face recognition is the issue .... The pin doesn't have my name on it and it doesn't have my picture on it, and so security should not be based on a pin ... People are focused on my hairdo."

"Something that perhaps the average American just doesn't understand is that there is a heightened sense of a lack of appropriateness being there for members who are elected who happen to be of color," McKinney said, "and until this issue is addressed by the American public in a very substantive way, it won't be the last time."

Meaning the average WHITE American, I presume. Well McKinney, your threats don't work with me. You're no darned better than anybody else. I hope they hang you out to dry.

Weak hand-slaps are at most what we ever see for RATS. Berger, Clintoon, now McKinney.

She's made enemies on both sides of the aisle -- notice that Democrats outside of her personal friends here in Georgia and the Congressional Black (Liberal) Caucus are noticeably quiet on this one. She also got the ire of columnist Cynthia Tucker in her latest editorial, calling Cynthia a 'second-rate member of congress.'

I have to believe that she will never have to be held responsible for this.

This whole thing is just a way to push their responsibility onto the Grand Jury.

I'd like to see all Congress Critters get in line and wait to be screened by the metal detector like all Americans.

It's about time for the Congress to understand that they are not privileged like they think. They are elected to serve the people of their districts. They need to learn to just do their jobs.

No problem with the extra post; good for DeLay. Now that he's getting out of politics, he'll play ball harder than ever before, imo, and he played plenty hardball before. Unlike the rest of our spineless Republicans.

I'm sick and tired of her claims of racist; she's skated this far because of her minority status, so she's got some nerve claiming that.

If you hit a cop in my town of Pasadena TX, your remains would resemble a vehicular/pedestrian accident involving a dump truck.

How could she not be indicted? I thought a grand jury's job was basically to determine if there is a question of guilt. The woman hasn't even denied she hit the officer. So how can they not indict?

I've never been prouder of Delay. About time someone said it IN Washington. Not just here.

They play the race card and think they are above being what they decry. Ha.

ITA with Delay. The woman is a Racist. A Racist that slugged a cop charged with her safety. That is inexcusable.

I realize folks in Washington seem to think everything should be about politics, but I don't. Neither do most Americans. You hit a cop in the context in which she did, you deserve severe consequences. Certainly a booking and night in jail number in the LEAST of those consequences.

I have NO faith in Democrats getting what they deserve according to law, but for the sake of that cop she slugged and maligned and all that serve, I want this to be the exception.

no matter how cynical I get, I can never keep up

This is your last chance Neo.After this, there is no going back.

You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and you believe whatever you want to believe.

You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

Should have taken the Blue pill instead....
