How is Your Voting Strategy Working Out?
Constitution Pary ^ | 11-02-2005 | John Leone - Candidate for New Jersey State Assembly

Posted on 04/16/2006 1:52:39 PM PDT by rodeocowboy

Question for conservatives who vote for Republican candidates every few years because the Republicans are the "lesser of two evils." P>

How is your voting strategy working out?

Since "conservative" Republicans have taken over the House of Representatives 11 years ago, the expansion of government has continued at every level. Nothing has been done to stop the holocaust of abortion. Gay marriage under the guise of "civil unions" is becoming a norm in our society. Our government continues in its Wilsonian tradition of globe-trotting and nation-building with the precious blood of American soldiers fertilizing the subjected nations, making them "safe for democracy."

Nothing has been done to deter the invasion of over 10 million illegal immigrants across our southern border. Taxation as a percentage of income is at record levels. Federal and state government debts are at record levels. The middle class of the American citizenry have the boot of the government planted squarely on their necks and continue to shoulder much of the monetary burden that keeps our corrupt governments breathing.

Conservative voters, I ask you again...How is your voting strategy working out? Have the "lesser" of evils advanced your agenda? (I really don't believe that this "evil" is lesser at all...but is merely a different flavor of evil. Much like choosing between strawberry or chocolate ice cream...the underlying substance is the same with the only difference being the flavor.)

I'm not asking if they have promised to advance your agenda (because I know their rhetoric).

I'm asking, "What has the Republican Party done for you and your cause?"

Words without actions are MEANINGLESS.

To use a quote from one of my all-time favorite superheroes in one of my all-time favorite movies (Batman Begins), "It's not what you are underneath that matters, but what you do that defines you."

In politics, it's not what you SAY that matters...but what you will DO once elected to office...

Until there is a paradigm shift in the thinking of conservatives, our nation will continue slouching toward certain destruction...Until there is a revolution in the minds and thought processes of dyed-in-the-wool conservatives who regularly vote Republican, there will be no legitimate change in our nation's course...Until the conservatives arise from their mental dormancy and slumber, our nation will continue to creep toward certain judgment.

Conservative brothers and sisters...OPEN YOUR EYES!

One of the biggest reasons why we have just the "two" major parties is because they are terrific at playing off of everyone's fears. 'Vote for us, because if you don't the guys from the other party will ruin everything.' Never mind the fact that both parties will essentially do the same thing regardless, but at least it is "my" party that's doing it.

If people would vote their conscience, instead of the party line, this country would be much better off. Most people have become too indoctrinated into the "two" party mentality though.

If the Constitution Party really wanted to make an impact, they would start by focusing their efforts on state level and congressional seats that are a lock for the Republicans, particularly where no dem bothers to run. If they won a few of those, then people would see how they vote on issues.

Running in districts where siphoning off votes would toss the seats to Democrats will get them nowhere. The only impact is to be a spoiler.

Why would do a protest vote in a Presidential election!

http://www.constitutionparty.com/party_platform.php

Exactly, let's try this party out in some more localized elections, I realize their appeal is being for smaller federal government (as indicated by their platform and name) however, they need to start at the beginning. If they do well, perhaps this or something similar (a blending of the two parties) would be in order. I do believe this party executes our Constitution as stated, but many things have changed since then

"(we're not quite as bad as the other guys)"

Maybe not but you stink a lot worse. Some moderates and maybe some two bit brained conservative might think the Reps would be more conservative but that hope is always dashed. That's why you stink more. We know what to expect from the Dems and we don't get it from the Reps.

Maybe you should sit out for an election or two.

I would but I'd still like to own my own guns in 2012. If the D-rats take over everything in 2006 & 2008 I'm not sure that I would.

First off, I remember being so frustrated with the same Republicans when Billy boy was president because they wouldn't stand up for us gun owners. In this election, guns aren't even an issue especially since Bush will still be president (a president with a message since so many votes went to the more conservative Constitution Party).

Second, we had better wake up the Republicans to its base in this election or we won't be able to count on the Republicans to protect our rights in the future.

In general, I guess I don't understand why the Constitution party doesn't do several things:

1) First and foremost, why are they not trying to win votes PREDOMINANTLY from Democrats by limiting their drumbeat to DU and Salon? Are they not interested in serving all Americans?

2) Why are they not EXCLUSIVELY running candidates in lower office positions until they have at least 1/3rd representation in state houses? Isn't this the way to determine if policies appeal to people -- seeking to represent them where they live?

3) Until item 2) is achieved, why would the C party think it has candidates qualified to deal with legislative intricacy, or staffing expert in legislative intricacy?

4) Why is not the C party demonstrating that it is interesting in being a party rather than a spoiler by engaging in the sort of party building activities represented strictly by 1) and 2)?

Perhaps spoiling rather than party building is the agenda. If so, and in the absence of all of the above that is the ONLY possible conclusion, then these posts remain focus diluting vanities.

I voted for Ross Perot. I liked what he told me about immigration and NAFTA (remember the "giant sucking sound"?). The Dems stayed home and kicked Bush senior's butt. I didn't like what the Republicans were telling me and I elected to go with a third party. Since the Dems are too entrenched to even think outside the box, they won by default. I'll never make that mistake again.

I've been pretty pleased with my Representatives and Senators, so it's been fine.

I've actually been relatively pleased with the House, as well.

The Senate has gotten on my last nerve, but it's far better than the Dims controlling it. President Bush has been good and bad.

I plan on getting involved in the Primaries in the future.

As for now, I see the Constitution and Libertarian parties as a waste. They're as relevant as the Greens and the Communist Worker's Party.

Then how do you expect conservative bills to be introduced into Congress?

I don't. But I expect them to be introduced in a following, Republican Congress and have a real chance of passing.

The Constitutionalists and Libertarians along with everyone else dis-satisfied with government should be doing everything in their power to eliminate the Democrats. They are on the ropes, a couple of election cycles away from fading into oblivion, where they've earned their place. They are becoming more outrageous and unhinged the more they lose.

Then another party (Constitutionalists would be fine) will automatically rise up and challenge the Republicans, and if they cannot govern they will see the same fate as the Democrats.

We are close. It is easy and doesn't cost a lot of money. Now is the time.

With eyes wide open, anyone can see that the Constitution Party is a loser.

When the Whigs and Federalists were in power, I'm sure enough said that Abe Lincoln and the Republicans were a loser third party. Please reread the above article and let it soak in! Where are the Republicans leading us?

You folks should learn to play well WITHIN the GOP and fight for your goals from the inside.

The Republican Party no longer listens to the voters who put them there. Just ask my mother, voted Republican all her life (with one exception, John Kennedy) and now has totally given up and voted for Kerry! (gasp!) I never thought I'd see the day but I never thought I'd see my own disgust when our own government has become so corrupt and no longer listens to the people. Admit it, our Senate is bought and paid for! You know it's true! It's time to put Senators in that represent the people of the US.

It may be that Anthony Kennedy will become the new Sandy O'Connor, voting the liberal party line in every five to four decision.

I know.

It angered me that Bush didn't name Ginsberg II and III right off the bat.

I also was infuriated when he signed the late term abortion ban. Just as infuriated as when he signed that Tax-rate cut into law.

Oh, yeah, and spent all his political capital on trying to get SS reform.

What a fool I was not to vote for the Constittuional candidate.

How is your voting strategy working out?

Well, I only voted for Bush in '04.

I always wonder, when they conduct those polls which ask whether one approves of the job he is doing: Compared to whom?

Compared to what I think John Kerry would have done: GREAT!
Compared to Ronald Reagan: POOR.

But we did get Roberts and Alito. Reagan couldn't have done much better.

This is an excellent point. However, most people, whether you want to admit it or not, don't know much at all about who is running for local offices. Most people do, however, closely follow national elections. The CP will never gain more support if people don't even know about them. By running candidates for national elections they are at least able to get more people asking questions about them. They may not make much of a dent in national elections right now, but by using any opportunity they can to let people know that they are there they can use this publicity to garner support at ALL levels.
