I am so glad you were able to go to Fran's, Coop. Great place and
wonderful food!
I am sorry you missed Hal. He is a very impressive man and a wonderful host. His daughter is very enthusiastic and friendly. She actually sat down at our table and visited for a bit.....about 2 months ago.
I spoke to a few friends at WR last night. They said the media was disgusting. They were sticking cameras and those long extension type microphones right into the disabled vets bus. One of the moms finally yelled at them to get the he$$ out of the way so our troops could get off the bus. It made our wounded warriors uncomfortable, to say the least.
I was also told that the media was not permitted to follow them through the service entrance. Their thought was the Hilton did not want the media to see what our heroes had to go through to get to the restaurant.
I am still waiting for Brian Kellaher to return my call. I did not ask for that, but was told he would definitely get back to me. I won't hold my breath.

Freeper Friends: Please ping your lists to this thread to help spread the word about Fran O'Brien's charity fund.
The owners of Fran O'Brien's Stadium Steakhouse in Northwest Washington have created a charity to help fund the Friday night steak dinners they hold for wounded soldiers from Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Organizers and veterans are trying to find a place to keep the dinners going while the restaurant's owners look for a place to reopen.
Donations can be sent to: Aleethia Foundation Inc.

Oh, that's real nice, the media lessening and perhaps even ruining their Friday night out. Grrrrrr!

bump back to ya!
I'm glad you enjoyed your evening at Fran O'Brien's. I regret I didn't go there when I was in town and had the opportunity. Hopefully, things will work out for them and I will have another chance.
Nice work carrying the message for them. The email responses I've received are the same as the guy stated earlier...'lease problems, blah,blah,blah'...I'll keep firing them off.
I hope to be back in DC to freep again soon! You guys are the best!!

We'll see what Hilton decides to do. I'm actually tempted to watch the CBS Evening News tonight (blecchh!) just to see if they run the Fran O'Brien's piece.

Last night on ABC they ran a short piece and then this am on it. They only said they are looking for a place for the soldiers to go.
Thanks for the up date.
