President Bush is lending Rudolph Giuliani some big-money muscle for his potential presidential bid.
When Mr. Giuliani traveled through Iowa on a scouting trip Monday, reporters didn't recognize the woman at his side, Anne Dickerson, who was on her first road trip since discreetly becoming Mr. Giuliani's lead fund-raiser a few weeks ago.
(The hiring of Ms. Dickerson was first reported on The New York Sun Web site yesterday.)
Ms. Dickerson rose to prominence during the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign, when she wrangled Texas-size cash from donors. Sources said the White House signed off on her role as Mr. Giuliani's presidential cashier.
Mr. Giuliani and Ms. Dickerson will be raising money on the road again next week in battleground Michigan and must-win Ohio. Their goal is to raise $200,000 by June 13, when Mr. Giuliani holds a cocktail fund-raiser at the Four Seasons Restaurant in Manhattan. It's the first time America's Mayor has passed the hat since he earned the unofficial title.

It isn't politics..........whether leftist (which I believe most of these thugs are), nor extreme rightists.
I'm not talking about disagreement. I'm not even talking about being really mad at him for not sealing the border (I know a LOT of good freepers who are). I'm talking about the overt hatred that is evidenced by so many of these posts. The hatred is in the hearts of the posters......not the result of anything President Bush has or has not done.
What about the fact that he is a major league gun-grabber?
That's not what the latest FR poll says.
I'm curious as to why people think this. I can't stand the guy, but I will give him credit for being a terrific leader post-9-11. But how in the world does that translate into having what it takes to be good on foreign policy?
The only reason Rudy is popular is because of 9-11.
Rudy a gun-grabber..
I suspect he will moderate that position - if he runs. That is a mentality that comes out of his tenure in NYC. Like any politician - he will decide what fights he wants to wage - and what fights are not worth it.
I think he will be very pro-gun when the time comes.
My guess
Any federal gun laws are unconstitutional. That's what's wrong with it.
I'm talking about the frickin' border trolls, not those among us who are legitimately concerned about border security but realize there's not an easy answer and there are - amazingly - more issues than simply immigration.
I've come to realize that ohioWfan is actually a very nice person who, as long as you remain civil with her, will respond in kind. Plus she opposes Rudy. I like that.
There are still a few freepers who claim that we "undermined" the president for speaking up on Miers.
"There are still a few freepers who claim that we "undermined" the president for speaking up on Miers."
Unfortunately, we were naive back during CFR and gave Bush the benefit of the doubt; perhaps we could have saved him from that fiasco. He no longer gets a free ride, that's why anti-illegal furror is so great, Bush cannot be trusted to do the right thing. The lack of vetoes also has weakened his hand. Once your street credibility is gone, it is mighty tough to get back, and there is no one to blame but Bush himself.
You know, liberals want the GOP to run someone popular nationwide in 2008...
...but to win the Presidency, we only need to run someone who is popular in the 32 states of the Heartland.
Which is to say, running a conservative who can win those 32 states will win the White House in 2008...something that liberals don't want.
Being popular nationwide, which obviously includes Blue States, is dramatically different from running someone who is only popular in Red States.
But why should Red States give up their power?! Why run someone popular nationally instead of just popular in the 30+ states that will determine the 2008 winner?!
Don't sell yourself short. You deserve credit, too!
Unfortunately the over-the-top rhetoric and vitriol make it appear as though it is the people complaining who are out of control, not the borders. That's not the way to win hearts & minds. A calm, rational but firm campaign is what is needed.
Speaking up on Miers was fine; the rhetoric used by some was not.
"and there is no one to blame but Bush himself. "
[Don't sell yourself short. You deserve credit, too!]
While we're at it, let's add RINOs like yourself to blame, the milquetoast quislings who have yet to find a conservative issue worth fighting for.
Your heros are Specter, Linday Graham, Snowe, Chafee, McCaine - they never hold Bush to the high road but always cave. So, I'd say RINOs have more than there share of blame.
Try again on the heroes, Hero.
Like I said, Rudy was the only MOFO to throw Arafat out of the Opera and out to the street.
McPain, Sphincter, and the rest would never have done that.
Giuliani Gets A Big Boost From Bush
Watch Bush's poll numbers drop even more.
At any rate, I oppose him on multiple levels, and I don't think he has a shot at the nomination, no matter how much the media wants him to get it.
He's just not a conservative, and he has WAAAY too much 'baggage.'
Thanks for that, jmc. :)
