This is a direct slap in the face to the Administration's critics. All the talking heads on the radio today were whining that the next DCI would be some neutered wimp who had nothing to do with anything controversial. This guy ran the NSA intercepts program. This is flipping the bird at the Obeys, Durbins, and other traitors.

If you saw the presentation this guy gave on CSPAN about the NSA program you'd have been impressed with the passion he brought to his arguments. My favorite was how he belittled the term "domestic spying". He said he'd been on hundreds on "domestic" flights and never once got off the plane in Afghanistan or Iran.

If this Anderson Cooper scoop is true, kudos to the President for upping the ante. This is close to "all in".

I don't know that much about him. Is he a good candidate to clean out the traitors at the CIA?

We ever had a high-profile crossover from the NSA to CIA? Let alone as Director?

I hope he kicks ass and takes names. The CIA is an anti-American cesspool that needs to be fumigated with lethal quantities of rodenticide.

To anyone who does not know this dude:

SLAM DUNK, OUT OF THE PARK, TOUCHDOWN, BABY!!

When the confirmation hearings come up, get your best chair, pop some popcorn, strap yourselves in and get ready for the ride.

This guy takes no crap from anyone, and he will hand the Democrats their asses back on a plate.

Whatever you think about Bush right now, the man knows how to kick some Democrat ass.

I posted this earlier (a few times...)
My reasoning may be wrong but we will wait and see.

About Michael Hayden (omitted in the article)
http://www.af.mil/bios/bio.asp?bioID=5746

Looks like Hayden is taking over critical intelligence possibly because CIA is TOO CORRUPT!

IOW, the CIA was not being fixed fast enough and if they can't prosecute Mary McCarthy, then just pull the rug and give the key assets to another trusted professional.

This would fit with the guess that Goss is leaving partly because of difficulty getting along with Negroponte -- Hayden has been working with him well, it has been reported.

I don't think it will be that hard to get him through the nomination process. I heard several democrats say good things about him today. I'm sure the hearings will have some hard questions, but I bet most democrats vote to confirm, and pretty quickly.

I also am betting that Goss ends up running for Senate in Florida.

Hayden is a good man, not only because of his professional experience and judgment, but because he is a long-time Steelers fan through thick and thin!
