Republican Right Abandoning Bush
MSNBC ^ | May 5, 2006 | AP

WASHINGTON - Angry conservatives are driving the approval ratings of President Bush and the GOP-led Congress to dismal new lows, according to an AP-Ipsos poll that underscores why Republicans fear an Election Day massacre.

Six months out, the intensity of opposition to Bush and Congress has risen sharply, along with the percentage of Americans who believe the nation is on the wrong track.

The AP-Ipsos poll also suggests that Democratic voters are far more motivated than Republicans. Elections in the middle of a president’s term traditionally favor the party whose core supporters are the most energized.

That spine is not going to do you any good when it's broken. That's why it was designed to bend when necessary.

I'm starting to wonder if Bush is a secret "Manchurian" candidate of the Dems these days.

Could he be a plant from the DNC from way back just to completely destroy the Repubs?

I can tell you one thing .... he had better not take ONE DAY of vacation till the Nov. election is done. If he takes even one day off at the ranch in Texas this summer it will look like he could care less about the reps/senators running for reelection and the country as a whole.

I see the came crap we got in '92. Perot gave us Clinton and the mess we are in today.

When are these One Issue Idiots that are running away not staying and fighting? To me, it's like confronting a wild bear with a knife and a gun, and because the gun isn't shiney enough, tossing it out and then looking at the knife and tossing it out because it won't "shoot". Then you get to go after the bear with no arms.

Smart? No!!!

You fight with the army you have (heard that before??). You use your weapons wisely.

It amazes me to hear these idiots bellyache, but I wonder how many emails, phone calls and other ways to pressure the Rinos into doing what they want--how many times have THEY fought the fight? No--they sit their whinney asses at the keyboard and bash Bush. They are fighting the WRONG person!!!

And it is going to kill us all.

I'm right there with him on the WOT but he has been a disaster at home

Agreed. Bush seems to be stuck on WOT as a day never goes by without him using WOT as an alibi or excuse for all the other mishaps.

WOT is becoming old hat. Can anyone imagine the presidents after WW II continually spouting Cold War during every speech and using it as an excuse for their shortcomings? WOT has become as meaningless as War on Drugs or War on Poverty.

Come on Mr. President, there's more to life than WOT. You've milked 9/11 for all it's worth. It's time now to move on to other presidential tasks.

I may not like everything Bush does, but if the Democrats took over now, I'd be very afraid. These aren't the Democrats of the 60s & 70s, todays Democrats are dangerous!

Does that mean you will be voting for a Democrat in the US House or US Senate?

Sure, I'm a conservative so I will be voting for a Democrat. Engage your logic please.

Now ask me if I will be send out a check to the RNC this year...

They will continue to ignore your requests to "do the right thing" so long as they know you fear a Dim administration so much as to abdicate your ability to choose the best candidate. Elect a conservative, regardless of party, and they will vote the way you want the majority of the time.

Party majorities don't mean anything if their agenda is blocked by those pesky conservative independents. Frankly, I think gridlock is a good thing when it comes to the federal sink hole.

We need to seriously consider forming not a third party but a party to replace the Republicans.

Why would I be a party to that when I have the best congressman anyone could ask for?

It all starts at home! I can't vote in CA or NY. I have the very best congressman in all of congress. For beginners, he lives at home and commutes to D.C. He is in his district every weekend--attending every festival and fish-fry. We feel like we know him and he "knows" us.

He got stopped and ticketed in S. Dakota after attending a college reunion and got on local T.V.immediately, admitted drinking beer and apologized. That is the only mis-step he has made and everybody trusts that will not happen again.

He is a gift from redistricting. He doesn't need a vote in my county to be re-elected but he is here at least twice most months. Too bad they aren't all like him!

Kevin Brady (R-TX. He's conservative and I'm glad he's mine!

Y'all go get one like him. PLEASE!

"I find it hard to imagine that anyone who describes themselves as conservative would give Bush a positive rating"

And I find it hard to believe that anyone would give anyone from the north eastern anti-American section of the United States a positive rating. I am and have been a Conservative since Goldwater and am appalled that we have people who call themselves Conservatives that want to put the anti-American pro terrorist democrats back in power.

Exactly, when will the Republican majority realize that closing the borders and NO amnesty will keep them the majority?

This illegal alien issue is a lib dem issue, these people are definitely dem voters so if the republican majority goes along with the dems on this and pass amnesty, leave the 20 million here, allow them to run the country as they are (the illegals are) allow the illegals to overcrowd this country, pass Kenedy's bill it will be the majorreason they will lose, they will have handed over the majority on a platinum platter to the dems.

BUT if they distinguish themselves from the other party by securing the border tight with armed guards, pass a strict bill against the illegals, proving they are tough on terroism in all forms foreign and domestic, deport as many as they can through a elimination process, hire an outside firm to manage the border and the fence, fine employers who hire the creeps, make it a felony to break into this country I mean my God if govt cannot see it should be made to be a serious crime than my goodness any and all terroists will see it's open season on this country, why should the mexicans be allowed to break in anytime they want? WHY ARE WE ALLOWING THE mexicans to break in so they can get jobs? Thats so utterly ridiculous it defies description if you think about it.

Folks we cannot allow the dems to get a foothold or allow our party to hand over this country to a bunch of mexicans, their employers and the mexican government and the democrats.

This handing over of all jobs to the mexicans and the largest employers right now of the mexicans illegals are construction companies, and making it a MINOR Offense for a group of mexican nationals who come here and steal from us
is worse than ridiculous.

If they hand the majority to the dems than we all lost everything!

You sir are a liar. I never said any such thing. I would vote for nearly any Republican over a Democrat but that does not mean I would give that Republican a positive rating when they do not act like a conservative.

Just because someone has an R next to their name does not make them a conservative. How conservative is this?

About half of the Bush discretionary spending increase went for Homeland security and defense.

Source: Office of Management and Budget, Budget of the United States Government: Fiscal Year 2005: Analytical Perspectives and Historical Tables table 8.7 —OUTLAYS FOR DISCRETIONARY PROGRAMS: 1962–2009

That doesn't mean I want Clinton back in office but it does mean we should be expecting a hell of a lot more from Republicans in the future.

It's not like Bush and the Republicans can't make a correction, you know. Just like with Miers, all he has to do seal the borders and all is forgiven.

First Miers, then the terminals, and now amnesty. It's tiring having to whack him with a two-by-four to get his attention.

Being pi$$ed and voting rat are two different things! Foxnews dynamics has a new poll that shows albright's polling firm is cooking with sauce again. The Nation is 50/50 when polled on voting in the midterms, and Bush's approval numbers are rising.

This is leftist drivel to incite fear amongst the only Party that loves America! dims love satan, power, and themselves ONLY!

Unfortunately, politically, he's turned out like his dad on issues here at home. "No child left behind", senior drug benefits, farm subsidies, growing government much faster than Clinton and rewarding illegal aliens with citizenship. All of which costs hundreds of billions, if not trillions of taxpayer dollars.

you nailed it -- Compassionate Socialism. Which in the end is absolutely no different than the leftist demos. Oh how I dream of another President being like Cleveland. I wonder if the nurturing aspects of President's wives push them to push these wholly unconstitutional programs. No matter how tempting or just it appears, government should not to take from one and give to another.

WOT? He was tough on terroists with the attack on Afghaniston and Iraq but he refuses to see the real threat from allowing a group to break into this country ILLEGALLY and allow them to stay and run this country, take jobs away from Americans, and making it a misdemeaner to break in, terroists see this as open season and that anyone can enter and steal.

WOT is about War on Terroists isn't it?
