I'm more upset with Conservatives than I am with George W. Bush

Posted on 05/08/2006 7:04:26 PM PDT by mwfsu84

If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?

If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?

If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?

Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.

And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.

So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.

If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?

George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.

If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

That is certainly an excellent recitation of this week's Talking Points with Nancy Pelosi.

We vote for the most conservative of candidates in the primaries but back the GOP nominee in all general elections.

Exactly.

The UAE can't shuffle paper at port terminals, but the screamers were so distracted they failed to notice that the UAE now controls plants that manufacture critical parts for the M-1 tank, among other pieces of military equipment.

Yep. If it ain't the latest agitprop, it ain't happenin'.

mwfsu is the grown-up who has the facts straight.

The rest of you melodramatic-tunnel-visioned-missing-the-BIG-picture pseudo-cons need to get some perspective here.

View United Flight 93........10 times if necessary..........and remember the evil enemy we are fighting, and the man who is leading us in that fight.

Let your brains control your emotions for a change instead of the other way around.

GREAT job, mwfsu. Thanks for an article that's right on the money.

Sounds to me like you need to start holding your local officials responsible for a few things. Start by getting a covenant that covers the chickens.

Heh! They passed one in '86! They didn't enforce it!

Sure, alot of people are pissed, after all the DNC and their proxies in the media keep telling us we have a lot to be pissed off about. Just keep feeding us immigration stories, come up with a new "divided GOP" angle, and be sure Howie Dean keeps his mouth shut so he doesn't screw the pooch, and voila, the dummyrats will have had their day (and your tax money, and your kids in their re-education camps). And all without the pesky drudgery of having to offer any ideas or alternatives (other than Cambodia v2.0), and certainly without unmasking their true agenda. But hey, you've still got your principles intact.

The truth is, I'm no "Bushbot" and I am pissed off about a lot - illegal immigration's right up there. However, I do nothing to move forward my ideas or principles by enabling my enemies - and I do believe more and more that they are the enemy - to take power.

Exactly right. There are two battles in every election. Some people confuse what they should be doing in the first with what they need to do in the second.

What we need is more conservatives

You can't just stomp your feet and hold your breath to get them. They have to be elected and the majority of "RINOS" in congress come from states that whose GOP voters are "RINOS". You sure as hell are not going to be able to elect Tom Tancredo in Olympia Snowe's district. This nonsense about Specter being given his senate seat because Bush pushed the "true conservative" aside is crap. It was Specter or a democrat.

Thant being said you won't get through to the nattering nabobs of negativism that are growing ever more prevalent on FR.

I am very against Amnesty and will not like it one bit if the GOP ignores the base and the will of the American people and pass Amnesty. That being said, I must remind those who may be angry at Bush for his Illegal Alien plan that he did run on this issue even though he knew it was NOT popular. He ran on this issue in 2000 and 2004. I do give him that and I respect him for that. I remember commenting on this to others that like him or not you should give him credit for his honesty. How many candidates would run on an issue that's unpopular? It would have been easy for him to say nothing about Amnesty until he had won and then push it...you know...the Clinton way of doing things. But we should give him credit for atleast being honest and telling us about his plan before we voted for him.

I admit, I voted for Bush knowing about his plan. I voted for him for other issues which I liked. I figured his Amnesty plan could be voted down by our representatives. It will be them I will hold accountable on this issue as it is them that I have sent my opinions to. I cannot blame Bush for this plan. He ran on it.

The republicans in congress know very well that we the American people do not want this. I hope they vote on our behalf.

No, the ones missing the big picture are the ones who can't see past the next election. They're the ones who can't understand that a temporary setback can sometimes be the price for what it takes to avert a major disaster down the road.

I'm sorry, but voting for the Constitution Party, the Libertarian Party, the Treehugger Party, the Good 'Ol Boy Party, the Southern Gentleman Party, the Stupid Stubborn American Party or any other fringe group will accomplish nothing.

The only thing it will do is divide and conquer conservatives and hand over power and the White House to the Dems and Hitlery.
