I believe we will see some strong overtures toward conservatives ... I can think of no other good reason for this speech.

"Key to the agreement is who will be negotiating a compromise with the House, which last December passed an enforcement-only bill that would subject the estimated 11 million to 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States to felony charges as well as deportation. " What's going on? This passed LAST DECEMBER?
WHY isn't it being enforced NOW
Read it again. Sounds like it passed the House but not the Senate. We don't know that the President would have signed it.
Don't get me wrong. I am with you.

A new Jeep? Cool.
I took a break yesterday to go see United 93. I'm not even ready yet to talk about how angry that film made me. Happy prospecting.

I'm not anti-Bush, and politics is a little more complicated in the real world.

Nothing like a little mountain air to purge some of the poison posted on this site lately. LOL.
Yer gonna need a lot more than air to purge the poison from this bunch...metaphorically speaking of course.

I agree. Let the man speak.
Congre$$ is already actually talking about building some fences finally, actually paying more attention to the borders and committing additional resources.
We need to remember Our gubamint is a big clumsy thing of a ship and takes a while to change directions.

Your first comment 3 posts into a thread announcing Bush is going to address the nation on immigration is a snarky comment about whether or not its going to be in English...and then you claim not to be anti-Bush and make a laughable attempt at showing your deep insight into politics and the real world.
Like I said...amusing.

I understand. It is frustrating.
It wasn't supposed to be this way.
Republican control of WH, Senate, HOR, and more-or-less the courts, yet this bunch finds it impossible to take a leadership role and do the things that make sense.
The amnesty issue is just the most obvious example.

Even if I misread it, we have OOLDES of OTHER LAWS that OUTLAW illegal aliens.
WHY do we need more and more laws, saying what we already have on the books and they're NOT enforced. It's a joke.

Presidents ratings to fall on Tuesday.

I hope someone who has his ear will tell him, enforcement first. Secure the border, then we can talk about what to do about the illegals already here. Let him know no plan will work if the border is not secured first.
I personally think President Bush has been getting terrible advice about the border issues. He needs to find someone else to advise him.
I also hope someone will clue him in on what NOT to say- I for one will scream if he says "jobs Americans won't do" one more time. I feel like he is slapping me in the face every time he says that. He is seriously out of touch if he believes Americans won't do certain work. Americans do hard, nasty jobs every day. I myself have done most of the jobs he and others keep saying Americans won't do. I have many friends and relatives that have done or are doing those jobs right now. How does he think the Americans doing those jobs feel when he says that? Is he saying they are not Americans? Is he telling them illegals will do their job better?

I've got to pay off the Jeep somehow. The kids say we're going to be rich! I'll settle for not soaking wet.

"Your first comment 3 posts into a thread announcing Bush is going to address the nation on immigration is a snarky comment about whether or not its going to be in English...and then you claim not to be anti-Bush and make a laughable attempt at showing your deep insight into politics and the real world." It is your burden to prove that I am "anti-bush", because you made the accusation.
Your proof is because I made a "snarky comment"?
I read the same crap from Michael Savage fans when they accuse people who are critical of Savage as being "Bush-Bots". Both sentiments exhibit a lack of intellectual honesty and an overabundance of intellectual laziness.
Some of us are absent of political humor, but I'm not pointing fingers.
