It's Mother's Day weekend after all. :)

There'll be plenty of time next week to get jiggy as Congre$$ digs in and attempts to address this nation's security and well-being.

I fear the President's speech will be DOA. I love this man, but he is seriously misguided on his approach to illegal aliens.

As much as I want the number of conservative Republicans to grow and gain strength, the pandering to illegals will undo any hope the Republicans have of gains in November.

Some on this forum want to demean those of us who disagree with the President as DU trolls and/or causing the Republicans loss this November by our speaking up or by not voting. I will vote, but I know there is a significant segment of the voting population who are PO'd about this issue and may stay home.

"I think all the negative nabobs on this thread should shut their traps until they hear what the President has to say. The scuttlebutt is that the President has heard our complaints, and intends to propose that no worker program will be implemented until the borders are certified as secured".

If the President has heard our complaints and intends to propose no worker program be implemented until the borders are secure, then OUR COMPLAINTS seem to have worked. Build a fence and I'll shut up.

"I agree. Let the man speak"

Thats the problem. Too much speaking going on and not enough doing.

Quit speaking, quit trying to PR it and START DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Call in the National Guard, call in the Posse, but DO SOMETHING besides leave our borders open.

If any legislation that includes a 'temorary worker program' passes, the Republicans will soon lose their majority status. That's isn't a threat, it's a guaranteed fact.

Many conservatives have drawn a line in the sand. (Alamo reference intended)

Hey, genius when you move from Colorado to CA,AZ,NM or TX and start paying the 16 BILLION A YEAR it's costing us to allow illegals to stay here then you can have a dog in this fight.

until then, put a muzzle on it!!

Securing Our Border

President Bush Is Taking Action To Increase The Manpower, Technology, And Infrastructure Needed To Secure The Nation's Border. Since President Bush took office, funding for border security has increased by 66 percent. The Border Patrol has been expanded to more than 12,000 agents, an increase of more than 2,700 agents, or nearly 30 percent. The President's FY07 budget funds another 1,500 new agents. Agents are being provided with cutting-edge technology like infrared cameras, advanced motion sensors, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Protective infrastructure, such as vehicle barriers and fencing in urban areas, is being installed. Manpower, technology, and infrastructure are being integrated in more coordinated ways than ever before.

The Administration's Border Security Strategy Is Getting Results.

Since President Bush took office, agents have apprehended and sent home more than 6 million people entering the country illegally - including more than 400,000 with criminal records. Federal, State, local, and tribal law enforcement are working together.
More than 600,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended through the Arizona Border Control Initiative last year - an increase of more than 50 percent over the previous year. The men and women of our Border Patrol have made good progress - but we have much more work ahead, and we will not be satisfied until our agents have full control of our border.

The Administration Is Ending The Practice Of "Catch-And-Release." The President has set a goal to end "catch-and-release" over the next year. Most illegal immigrants from Mexico can be returned to Mexico within 24 hours. Non-Mexican illegal immigrants present a different challenge. For decades, government detention facilities did not have enough beds for the non-Mexican illegal immigrants caught at the border - so most were released back into society. They were each assigned a court date, but virtually no one showed up.
The Administration is ending the practice of "catch-and-release" by increasing the number of beds in detention facilities by 12 percent this year; the President's FY07 budget proposes increasing that number by another 32 percent. The Administration is expanding the use of "expedited removal," which allows us to send non-Mexican illegal immigrants home more quickly.

We Are Making Progress In This Effort.

Last year, it took an average of 66 days to process a non-Mexican illegal immigrant. Now, the process is taking only 21 days. This has helped us end "catch-and-release" for illegal immigrants from Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua caught crossing our Southwest border. Since last summer, the total number of non-Mexican illegal immigrants released into society has been cut by more than a third. There is more work ahead, and the Administration will work with Congress to close loopholes that make it difficult to process illegal immigrants from certain countries and will continue pressing foreign governments like China to take back their citizens who enter our country illegally.

Strengthening Enforcement Of Immigration Laws In America's Interior

The President Is Providing Resources To Strengthen Enforcement Of Immigration Laws. Since President Bush took office, funding for immigration enforcement has increased by 42 percent. These resources have helped agents bring to justice smugglers, terrorists, gang members, and human traffickers. For example, through Operation Community Shield, Federal agents have arrested nearly 2,300 gang members who were in America illegally, including violent criminals like the members of the "MS-13" gang.

Better Interior Enforcement Requires Better Worksite Enforcement.

Last year, President Bush signed legislation to more than double the resources dedicated to worksite enforcement. We are working to hold businesses accountable and crack down on document forgery. Next month, the Administration will launch new law enforcement task forces in 11 cities to dismantle document fraud rings.

Yesterday I stopped by the DMV and picked up voter registration forms for my wife and I. If he does what I think he is going to we will use them to change our registration from Republican to Independent.

I hear ya on a lot of jaw flapping and not enough action,

I have a feeling that our elected officials know they are now between a rock and a hard place and it is their inactions and lax ti nil enforcement and oversight that has placed them there.

They either take action now or pay a price in the general election,, and we all likely pay a larger price as a result. They have no punts or mulligans left to use.

If they don't want to do the job of protecting and honoring our nation's constitution and laws, then we need to elect folks that will.

"I personally think President Bush has been getting terrible advice about the border issues. He needs to find someone else to advise him".

Quite the contray. He's following the advice of Big Business who benefit from cheap labor. He does not care what grassroots GOP think, or a portion of what grassroots think.

LOL, some people can be swayed by unimportant statistics others can't. By the way the latest scam is for illegal Mexicans who are caught to false claim to be from El Salvador so they are released pending a hearing that they never show up for.

All this supposed increased enforcement means nothing until the President gets up and tells the illegals to leave the country that we are coming for them and there will not be an amnesty or new guest worker program. Then he follows it up with some interior task forces. Then I'll start believing.

You wanna pay off that Jeep?

Here is what you do:

Move to San Diego County. Find a homeowner who is underwater in their mortgage payments. Pay them to sign the mortgage over to you. Bring the home current, then sell it if you can get at least double what you paid the former owners. If not, refinance it with better terms and rent it. Use the equity to get a loan and do all of the above again, and again, and again.

Then you can hang out on FR all day and chase loose women in the evenings with me. (oh yeah, you are married, sorry.)

There are complaints, and then there is BITCHING.

'Bitching' is the losers who use terms like 'shrub' and 'jorge' and other derogatory terms in describing MY President. Bush is an honorable man who deserves more respect then he receives from many on this forum.

"Some here will pee their wittle pants".

Quite the contray. Why do you think the White House is putting together this unscheduled speech?

Do you think the President has something new to say or do you think it is an attempt to STOP his poll numbers from hitting the mid-20's (It's down to 29%).
If anybody is peeing, it's the White House.

I agree, this will be nothing but a failed PR move. Damage control, nothing more, and he will still push his guest worker program.

The elites in Washington can't even BUY a clue if they think appeasement will work.

"Waste of time, we are not buying it. He still doesn't get it."

Nope - the only thing I want to hear from him is EXTREME moderation of his position - as in a 180.
