The First Entirely Positive,“How do we Help Solve the Illegal Immigration Problem?" Thread
5.12.06 | ohioWfan

Posted on 05/12/2006 5:47:27 PM PDT by ohioWfan

I’m going to try something entirely new to Free Republic………..start a thread restricted to practical, positive. pro-active things that this huge forum filled with good people who love this country can actually DO about helping to solve the illegal immigration problem, and how we can ‘encourage’ our leaders at all levels to get their acts together.

This is not a thread for venting or attacking (Heaven knows, that‘s been done plenty around here!). Let’s keep it entirely positive……..no attacks on the President and ‘Bushbots’ or the GOP………or on each other, from EITHER side. No threats to ’kick the GOP bums out’ …….we all know that the risk of having Dems in power is too great for that irresponsible threat. NO name-calling from EITHER side……..’Jorge‘ and ‘El Presidente‘ both qualify as disrespectful name-calling. (Perhaps we can all just ignore anyone who tries to turn this into a hostile thread, and punch the abuse button, but NOT engage in battle with him/her). Disagree, but be respectful about it.

What we really need are practical things we can do……with links to key Senate and Congressional offices, the White House, as well as STATE and LOCAL government offices, examples of THOUGHTFUL and POSITIVE letters to our leaders that will actually be read, and responded to. Phone numbers, and ideas for THOUGHTFUL and POSITIVE phone calls to leaders. What we also need are specific PRAYER requests for you, so that those of us who believe that our God is the God of the impossible can be on our knees in prayer for the details of this immense problem. We need fervent prayer for the President and Congress, as well as our State and Local authorities. And we need Freeper creativity!

We are LEGION, and together, I believe we can make a difference in moving this engine down the track more rapidly.

There are people who are very angry with the President and the Republicans in Congress, and people who still respect and admire the President greatly, and are angry with the Republicans in Congress……..and even some who are NOT angry with the Republicans in Congress (OK……..maybe not..... :)………..but we ALL want to end this invasion, and help our brothers and sisters in the Southwest to have their safe and normal lives return, and prevent the invasion from moving further.

Those of us outside the region may not understand what things are like, but we want to, so if those of you in the affected states could give us more details about how bad this is, without belittling us because we don’t live there, it would be much appreciated. We know it‘s bad, and we care about it, even though we cannot fully appreciate it from where we sit.

There is a great work force of pro-Bush people out in freeper lurker land who have been shoved out of the discussion by bashers. There are lots of us who want to know what’s going on, but wouldn’t go on a standard immigration thread if our lives depended on it, because the disdain for us there is palpable. We may agree with the idea of a guest worker program, or we may not, but we don‘t want to be labeled just because our ideas are different.

So…… LET US HELP YOU, PLEASE! We are activists, and we are willing to work.

Tell us what we can do. Let’s band together on this important issue to do whatever we can do to put pressure on Congress, the White House, state and local governments………polite, respectful pressure……….as well as encouraging them when they do make good decisions, and see what happens.

What do you think? Can we be pro-active and actually get something done? Can we discuss this without rancor, but with the common goal in mind to rescue our beloved country from invasion?

If you think so, please ping those who will, without personal attacks, tell us their stories, and let us get involved in getting something done. This thread is not to place blame, but to come up with solutions.

This is America………..and we are Freepers! Let’s ROLL!

Right. The problem is higher up, and maybe the ultimate sources are companies like Tyson, et al, who hire them under the table.

The health care problem may well iron itself out if the greater problem is dealt with.

I like the "ID thingee," knowing it can be fraudulently duplicated, but like our currency has to be redone and reissued,...

With the folks in ChhavezLand and other Marxist areas in Latin & South America being able to walk up through Mexico and through the border into my city.
Also One of the two candidates for Prez. in Mexico is the former mayor of Mexico City and is a Marxist.

Another problem are the Zapatiests, with their covered face
and Marxists guerrilla acrivities
All this just south of me.

We also have Chinese, Arabs, etc. coming through and over the border.

Another problem are the drug cartels that make the mafia look like boy scouts.
Also the kidnappings that go on, both here in San Diego and Tijuana. The other week there were four. Mostly heads of corps. in TJ.
Some of the Corp. heads are from Japan. Both they and others that have their corporations in Tijuana live in the
South Bay area of San Diego to lessen their chances of being kidnapped.

Yes, and if you are caught voting before you are a citizen it means instant deportation with no hope of ever being accepted as a guest worker again.

I am afraid of the cost that will be exacted in the form of some bugus compromise to get real enforcement of the borders from the upcoming speech, but I think we need to deal with Mwexico directly to force them to befcome a partner in this endeavor.

I would start bey placing restrictions on American Businesses relocating to Mexico, and limiting the transfer and payments for trade based on the Mexican government's performance in stoppiong the flow of illegals AND DRUGS from their side of the border. I would also make them honor the treaties iwsth the US in which they promise to apply stronger environmental standards and labor standards in return for trade.

I just heard the most disheartening poll yet tonight -- they polled current opinion comparing President's Bush and Clinton (didn't state if they oversampled Dems) and Clinton has 63% positives and The President was 180 degrees opposite....

What can you say? it makes you scratch you head in wonder, but more than that gave me cold chills that his popularity with the masses will give us 8 years of Hillary... and then watch our borders, we won't have any borders.

Police are overworked. I realize that.
We'd better be prepared to foot the cost of enforcement.
I know I am!

You're right. MONEY talks. We have sent NO money to the RNC, and when they have called we have said why.

Ditto here. I tell the callers politely tht I understand they are doing their jobs, and not to take this personally, but the RNC will get no more of our paychecks until the current immigration laws are enforced, and the border, sealed. My son, age 14, has passed this message on to the RNC during one phone call as well, when I could not get to the phone.

Also, oWf--wonderful thread. Thanks so much!

I think the immigration reform law needs to include that any municipality or state that doesn't check ID and call INS when they find illegals loses Federal funding - period. While many states are impacted by illegal immigration, it's a national security issue and a national debt issue, too.

Great point here, SC.

Thanks for the added info about INS/ICE...........I'm learning a LOT here!

NO! If you are going to be a citizen of this country, you should renounce all allegiance to any other country.

I thought they had to do that now? No?

It needs to be a swipe card, but beyond that, creating a data base of real SS numbers of legal residents, is what is really needed. That will cut off the hiring of all but the most sophisticated and creative, and that is good enough for government work. The idea is to control the numbers. If the number of illegals flowing in, was 50,000 per year, rather than 500,000 or whatever the number is, this issue would be a non issue for me.

Except that cities don't have the manpower to track down illegals. So your suggestion is a Catch-22.

If they track down illegals, in some areas they'll do little else. So crime will increase in those areas.

If you take what little federal funding some of these cities get, they won't, for sure, track down illegals or even turn them over when they've committed another crime.

Love him or hate him, when he thinks he is right he is a stubborn as a mule.

Ain't that the truth. My fingers are crossed he will make this the centerpiece of him Monday talk. However, I have a sinking feeling it will be dealing with the Dimwits fascination with phone records.

Personally, I think if the jobs dry up the illegals will go home.

I'm already collecting articles concerning companies that have been raided and supervisors put behind bars. I'll snail mail these stories, along with relevant USC statutes on seiziure of property used to facilitate transport of illegals, PLUS pictures of illegals working on various properties owned by these companies.

I'll put a nice, polite, handwritten letter into each envelope and explain this same information has been forwarded to ICE and the IRS. Do what you feel is right.

Even when the thread dies down, that hard, cold information will be here to be read and absorbed.

(I'm not exactly absorbing alot here right now! LOL!)

Thanks again!

Some ERs have had to shut down here due to the illegals
overwhelming them.
In turn it is shut down for the legal residents.
