The little girl is Iman (Eman) Walid (Waleed).

The doctor is Walid (Wahid, Waheed) al Obeidi (Obaidi).

I could be out on a limb. But is this her real name?

I wonder how many girls are named Iman.

That shrapnel wound would be from the IED that many say the Marines lied about...the IED in question would be the one caused by a grenade hitting a propane tank in the kitchen.

Probably true - the sort of argument that I would expect from highly qualified and honorable military prosecutors in a court marshall.

It is great that HERE we can debate reasonable possibilities in a public forum. However, I can't help but notice the driving forum, i.e. public discourse in the MSM, seems to push everyone toward a skewed exchange emphasizing an anti-military, anti-war, anti-Bush, liberal-democrat perspective. Hence, in the case of the Haditha action, the media has aired a concocted testimony consisting of hypothesis without rebuttal that is compressed into a hastily formed assertion of atrosity.

Where is the opportunity to hear from, understand and weigh the reports of grunts and NCOs? Where is the presumption of innocence? Without the time to contemplait and weigh ALL the evidence, without the benefit of a jury of peers (Military personnel in a court marshall instead of the psuedo-intellecual, flabby-assed, arrogant, sheltered-life, civilian corp) the premature judgement of the "driving forum" is that of guilt before hearing.

One of the biggest drivers of this story (besides that sleazeball Murtha) IMHO, is the initial report that supposedly said all the civilians were killed by an IED. Now there may be a simple explanation. I honestly don't know. But that likely triggered the real investigation.

The witness testimoney, the photos from a suspect human rights group, this suspect doctor and the rest, I'm quite certain the military folks on scene were more than a little suspicious. But when that initial report didn't jive with what has apparently since been learned, that likely started the detailed follow-up.

For clarification I meant the Dr. at post #65 (Dr. Louay), not the Dr. on this thread.

Don't know how I missed this quote from the despicable EX-Marine Murtha:

Murtha contends photographic evidence of the incident proves beyond a doubt that the Marines at Haditha committed war crimes, making it critical the military take prompt action. "These kind of things have to be brought out immediately," he told "This Week," "because if the Marines got away with it, other Marines might think it's okay."

http://abcnews.go.com/ThisWeek/story?id=2013939&page=2

Dishonorable Mr. Murtha, from a former Marine to a pathetic EX-Marine - you are my pet project between now and November.

NOtice how "all of a sudden" (not)....it seems that "massacre" after "massacre" is being supposedly uncovered in Iraq...

AND, ever the Prime Minister is accusing our troops of doing this "all the time".

We have Jack Murtha and Soros, and anyone else behind the scenes in the Democrat Party for starting this, and perpetuating it, over and over.

You did notice that the day he talked about Haditha was his "ANNIVERSARY" --6 months to the day, when he FIRST came out with his cut and run policy.

I've been hearing that garbage for 8+ years, and yet I've never had trouble distinguishing between the parties. Never.

I suspect Murtha's access to photos is connected to his classified position on a defense/intel committee. He's quite capable of treasonous 'leaking' to fit his agenda. I would love to catch the EX-Marine in releasing information he could only have gotten in secret meetings. It's time to stop this crap of using democrat committee positions to attack our Military in order to attack this administration. Their hatred of this administration is guiding them to treasonous behavior that really hurts this nation and our Military. And they are blind to the reality of their treasonous behavior because they believe anything is okay so long as it empowers them. I've learned this of the democrats with their defense and promotion of the abortion holocaust (their defense of partial birth abortion was overwhelming proof) as a means to empower their political agenda..

Many assume an IED is simply and only that which is buried in the road and tripped when a Humvee passes over it.

And many assume that is what was reported.

Not necessarily so.

If the grenade was hurled into the kitchen, then a rush into the room filled with bodies, one would certainly expect to initially think this "IED" was the cause of death. Imagine this is the scenario, and that this is when those Marines find the bodies are riddled with bullets. And realize they've been set up. And then imagine them being accused of falisfying the report.

Or imagine those in the house throw the grenade because the terrorist are shooting at them from behind women, children, and a crippled old man, and that there is fire coming at the rest outside, from a second house.

No peeps out of these folks in Haditha, no demonstrations, afterward, until a video is 'produced' (and I mean that in the literal sense of the word.)

The Ohio Reservists suffered massive casualties earlier...in August, including an ambush in which every Marine was killed, weapons and dogtags confiscated and proudly displayed on video. Ballistics tests won't be worth the paper they're written on. Exhuming the bodies is a waste of time, IMHO.

Don't be so sure. If it can be shown that they were killed with 7.62mm ammo, found in AK-47s, and if it can be shown that the unit was not carrying any weapons that fire such ammo, it could be quite exculpatory.

The Sunni terrorists have our weapon systems also, stolen from dead American Soldiers and ambushed patrols and convoys. I'm about to the point of declaring there's too much contrary material already amounting to reasonable doubt that these MArines committed any such atrocity. Mark this one up as a nearly successful Sunni Terrorists setup, except for the sewer rat Murtha and the salivating media whoredom for the democrap agenda.
