Vanity: Dixie Chicks tour ticket sales disaster in Red States
Ticketmaster.com ^ | 6/3/06 | self

Posted on 06/03/2006 11:05:58 AM PDT by jimbo123

This is my first vanity, so please indulge me.

Dixie Chicks tour tickets went on sale today to the public in many market and it's starting to look a disaster, especially in the Red States.

There were initial indications that internet pre-sale ticket sales were going badly last week, but this confirms the news.

A review of seat availabilities on Ticketmaster indicate first-day and pre-sale ticket sales for the portly traitors are:

Detroit-Bad

Pittsburgh-Disaster

Philadelphia-Bad

Boston-Almost Sold Out

Wash. DC.-Selling Well

Chicago-Selling Well

Minneapolis-Bad

Fargo-Meltdown Disaster

Glendale, AZ-Bad

Omaha-Disaster

Denver-Disaster

Dallas-Disaster

Nashville-Meltdown Disaster

Tampa-Meltdown Disaster

Sunrise, FL-Meltdown Disaster

Atlanta-Selling Okay

Tacoma-Disaster

More venues go on-sale in the next week. California will probably go well for the cows, but the rest of the U.S. seems to be saying that the Chicks will be playing to half-empty arenas.

Sounds like the same 'has-been' tactics of the Hollyweird Elite. They're never bright enough to figure out tht they're pissing off half of America when they let their mouths overload what little brains they have left.

The Big Media has been pushing these flimsy pricks on us for several weeks now.

The WaPo had a columnist crowing about the #1 album sales for the new Chicksy Dicks. Of course, he's black, a Yankee and a DC metro resident so it's doubtful country gets heavy rotation in his car/household but that doesn't stop him from writing about a subject he knows next to nothing about and baiting all those red state hicks. He also ignores the sham of the modern-day record chart thanks to intentional front-loading of numbers, total lack of accounting for 'net sales and downloads (legal or otherwise). But why let facts get in the way?

I'm watching on CMT, Shania Twain in Chicago. The place is packed. I wonder where the Chicklets will be playing and if it is the same arena as Shania.

But I thought their new album zoomed to No. 1 in no time!

My DW recalls an interview the Ditsy Chits gave several years ago. They told the reporter that their gravy was not record sales but touring. This will hurt them more than the record company.

As another poster mentioned previously, their label company has a lot invested in them and likely spent a good chunk of change buying up a lot of units to pump up their sales in the hopes of creating a "bandwagon" effect. It's done all the time.

The Dixie Pr1cks--what will they and their ilk do when Bush leaves office? He's soooooo great to use for kissing ass amongst the liberal crowd, and to create controversy when one's popularity is on the ropes.

Like your name.

One thing I do know is they are probably not doing as well as they want you to think. They are trying to revive a dead career. What you are seeing is an all out assualt to jump start their career again. You probably will hear about how well they are doing a thousand times before they go sliding down that hill. I am pretty sure someone is backing them now. Besides, it really doesn't matter because they don't mean a thing in the greater scheme of things. LOL

My friend included the Follywood lefties when he told us what entertainers did when their career had started to tank here.

Exactly. It depends on what type of arrangement they have with the concert promoters. But I would expect that this time there's a minimum guarantee plus a revenue share with the promoters. Which means they're going make much less money than they did on the last tour. And expect some cancellations of some of their Red State dates (ie. Omaha) because of "illness" rather than "poor ticket sales".

....they're traveling with their kids... that's what they'll use...

we were doing great but "the kids just can't take the road and we need to think of our chillerin."

So they'll bag the concerts that are slumping, regroup into more "progressive" and "intimate" venues (smaller)...like the local bowling alley or "choke and puke eatery". Cause that's what the chicks really, really want... they don't want the guys and gals with George Strait, Toby Keith, Reba, or those types on the CD changer....they want the audience that "gets it"..doncha know?bwahahahahahaha...

this is too funny.

Why were the Dixie Chicks stupid enough to offer political commentary in the first place?

It got them a lot of free press. It will prove to be a profitable ploy I think.

I couldn't believe it when I heard the ads on the country stations here (Pittsburgh) trying to push their tour date here.. I don't think either one of them have played anything from their new albumn... and folks here sure aren't beating down any doors requesting them.

Seems pretty hypocritical to me to say you are done with country music and then advertise for your concerts on country stations....

But then again, hypocritical is the hallmark of the leftist moonbat.

Don't kid yourself... Pennsylvania is a very red state... with a suburb of NYC stuck inside our eastern border called Philly that throws the state blue during presidential races.. but I don't think that will last for much longer.

Pittsburgh region votes redder every election... the trend will continue leaving just Allegheny County as the only blue vote total getter within a few cycles outside of the philly region.

Pittsburgh democrats are old time souther democrat types more than modern liberal gay marriage dems... Most are Dem in registration only, not remotely in their politics.. and as they die off, this part of the state will continue to redden.

Even in liberal cities... folks who listen to country tend to be the red voters stuck in blue territory.. I am not suprised at all.

I have $50 that says the tour is successful. The Chicks are all over Dallas country radio again. The boycott, at least here, seems to be long since over.
