This is the liberal response to the WMD find: "Santorum recycles bogus Iraq WMD claims"
BTC News ^

Posted on 06/22/2006 4:50:29 AM PDT by ChrisFelice1

Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum has been making the rounds claiming that the US has in fact discovered banned weapons in Iraq. The claims are based on the continuing sporadic appearance of pre-Gulf War I munitions containing variously disintegrated chemical weapons, and the Pentagon has said that the claims are crap: the munitions in question, mostly artillery rounds, are unusable and have been for years...

Liberals don't want to be bothered with the truth.

So true. Lib motto is "Don't confuse me with the facts"

Why has the left not demanded the immediate declassification of the entire report if they are so sure this is "bogus"?

I’m assuming that’s a rhetorical question.

We know Sadam had them, the US sold them.

Actually I think the myth that then US sold them to them originally has been debunked.

Refresh my memory: how many Iraqi attacks on American soil were there prior to the invasion?

I supported the attack on Afghanistan, which actually disrupted the operations of the terrorists who attacked us. Jumping on this issue to justify the invasion of Iraq is just peculiar. As I mentioned in my post, the Duelfer report went into considerable detail on the provenance and condition of the rounds that had been found to that point, and they weren't impressed. It's near impossible to extract the chemicals from the munitions, they're no longer usable as artillery rounds and when used as IEDs, the chemical components of the binary rounds don't have time to combine even in the event they haven't degraded beyond use. And of course they wouldn't be used as IEDs absent the invasion.

I wouldn't want to run across one in my neighborhood, but the cost/benefit ratio here seems a bit lopsided.

They were so degraded that they were inert...

You have proof of that? Would you keep one on your mantle-piece?

> What's inconvenient for the democrats, and nobody talks about this, is that Richard Clarke and David Kay testified under oath that Saddam was 12 to 18 months away from having a nuclear weapon.

say what???? the Libs keep telling me that there was absolutely no evidence Iraq had a nuclear programme.

out of interest, why would Dick Clarke get involved in that? how would he have access to that info?

"They were so degraded that they were inert... Sure they were found, but how much of a threat were they really. "

Well if the unclassified report is not a lie, and Santorum is not lying, the Sarin gas has degraded BUT IS STILL LETHAL.

Unless mushroom clouds start appearing over Iraq, the Democrat CARE (Cut And Run Experts) party will never agree that any weapon found constitutes a WMD.

You cannot win a debate with the Democrat CARE party as no lie is too extreme as long as they can blame America and regain power.

Again welcome,

Would you cut the "I'm a conservative act"? Its tiresome. At least drop the "we's" and "us's".

I heard a great response to the libs last night...

If they are so harmless, then you will volunteer to store them in your garage until they can be destroyed...right?

The actual declassified report is located here

Before deciding what is dangerous and what is not, it might help to actually read the report.
