I think it is no surprise that drug trafficing in China is small to nil. Take that to the bank.
those are legal substances. get with the program.
get behind legalizing your own particular poison or remain a lawbreaker.
You probably meant "withdrawal" programs that "waste" tax money.
And I agree that they are a waste of taxpayer money. So are extended prison terms.
We could execute all drug users, but executing the 20 million people or more that use illegal drugs each year is going to involve some major cleanup costs.
Of course, just letting adult citizens decide for themselves what they should put into their own bodies is too radical to consider.
"This coming from somebody who wrote that he opposes the death penalty.
"
I was being satirical. Since you remember that I oppose the death penalty, then it should be easy to see the satirical tone there.
And for those who want to start an argument about my opposition to the death penalty, don't bother. I'm not going to get into that today. I'll just say that I do not grant to the state the right to decide whether someone lives or dies in that way. One mistake is too many.
The original poster made no distinction between legal & illegal drugs. Why, I would even bet they drink alcohol.
How ironic.
WOW, must have had a large organ request to fill

oops--sorry for the double post!
Yep I mudered that post LOL.
Your reasoning also breaks down badly when you apply it to other things, like securing the border or preventing almost any other kind of crime.
By greatly increasing the street price of drugs, the 'war on drugs' has success.
It has made drug users and traffickers alike more violent and desperate for money in order to obtain money for drugs and get money from the drug users...........
Yep. So maybe you shouldn't do drugs or sell them.
I'm sure he doesn't; the point is that the policy you favor results in more crime.
Even totalitarian China is losing the war on drugs ... it has no chance in a free society.
One typically, if the guy is a good shot. Considering its done at point blank range with a rifle to the back of the head...I would say one.
No as far as chances to clean up his act.
You know did it once. Stops selling drugs and becomes a memeber of society.
never does it again.
Or, is it one strike your're out?
Do not pretend that it is merely the restrictions that are causing the crime - other banned substances do not cause nearly the crime level. The crime is driven by the effect of the substance.
Durn that Federal WOD........
They do not hold the same ideas on reform as we do. Prison here is for reform. Prison there is for punishment.
Most of their reform is done through hard labor etc. There are major abuses there.
Some people are sentenced to prison though for drug charges. Its not etched in stone that one will be shot on the spot in China for selling drugs. One is gambling with their life for doing that though.
Either case though you don't want to wind up in a Chinese prison either way. In some ways you might opt for the execution if given the choice.
There are courts in China believe it or not, despite what some may hear.
Those courts can and often are corruptible though. Most are not very lenient on drugs, but you never know.
If I did I'd have to support reinstating Prohibition. I don't ... do you?
Do not pretend that it is merely the restrictions that are causing the crime - other banned substances do not cause nearly the crime level.
Other banned substances are not as greatly desired. It remains the case that by raising the price you increase users' motivation to commit crime.
