WASHINGTON -- Next June will mark the 40th anniversary of the Six Day War. For four decades we have been told that the cause of the anger, violence and terror against Israel is its occupation of the territories seized in that war. End the occupation and the "cycle of violence'' ceases.
The problem with this claim was that before Israel came into possession of the West Bank and Gaza in the Six Day War, every Arab state had rejected Israel's right to exist and declared Israel's pre-1967 borders -- now deemed sacred -- to be nothing more than the armistice lines suspending, and not ending, the 1948-49 war to exterminate Israel.
But you don't have to be a historian to understand the intention of Israel's enemies. You only have to read today's newspapers.
Exhibit A: Gaza. Just last September, Israel evacuated Gaza completely. It declared the border between Israel and Gaza an international frontier, renouncing any claim to the territory. Gaza became the first independent Palestinian territory in history. Yet the Gazans continued the war. They turned Gaza into a base for launching rocket attacks against Israel and for digging tunnels under the border to conduct attacks like the one that killed two Israeli soldiers on June 25 and yielded a wounded hostage brought back to Gaza. Israeli tanks have now had to return to Gaza to try to rescue the hostage and suppress the rocket fire.
Exhibit B: South Lebanon. Two weeks later, on July 12, the Lebanese terror organization, Hezbollah, which has representation in the Lebanese parliament and in the Cabinet, launched an attack into Israel that killed eight soldiers and wounded two, who were brought back to Lebanon as hostages.
What's the grievance here? Israel withdrew from Lebanon completely in 2000.

I happen to be of the very firm, deep rooted, solid opinion that
GOD ALMIGHTY DOES ALL THINGS WELL!
And, that's regardless of whether I can wrap my finite mind around His doings, or not. He also declares that [in some sense, to some significant degree] HIS WAYS ARE BEYOND FINDING OUT.
His relationship with Israel is as has been mentioned in this thread. Israel rebells; God disciplines her, usually via her enemies.
She repents, God blesses her until she gets fat and rebellious. Yes, this is not unlike America.
And, then there's that Scripture about God's relationship with individuals--that ALL THOSE HE LOVES, HE DISCIPLINES. Those not experiencing God's disciplines . . . at least from time to time, would do well to check and see if they have a relationship with God, at all.

imho, God is setting Israel up AND GOD IS SETTING THE WORLD UP
for the most extreme, GRAND, memorable etc. OBJECT LESSON [for His Glory] particularly for ALL CREATION FOR ALL TIME that a relationship with God brings Life, liberty, freedom, blessing. That rebellion against God brings death.
It's really as simple as that. Lots of things are fodder for that educational message. Has been so throughout history. Will be even more vividly and clearly so in this era.
Screaming otherwise won't change it a micro-gram's worth.
Screaming that finite minds know better than God Almighty won't change it a micro-gram's worth.
Screaming that God is wrongly not running HIS MULTIVERSES ACCORDING TO ONE'S OWN FINITE CONSTRUCTIONS ON REALITY won't change it a micro-gram's worth. . . . might not even warrent a good chuckle on God's part.
Also, screams that those of us who read Scripture in rather literal terms--particularly regarding prophecies related to this END TIMES ERA . . . screams that we are idiots, have it all wrong; etc. will not change or delay the literal fulfillments of such prophecies one micro gram's worth.
It seems to me, that a lot of folks are going to be rudely awakened at some not-to-distant point . . . with the fact that their constructions on reality have been seriously flawed.
At least, they've been warned.
ISRAEL WILL OVERCOME--but only By God's promises, direction and power. She has the honor of being His primary object lesson for all creation.
The Christian Church is 2ndly so honored.

Not as this statement seems to construe it.
The Jihadi's believe they are doing God's work to wipe Israel out of existence. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH.
But God uses even satan to God's ends.
When Israel observes the world leader set up his image in the New Temple's Holy Of Holies, then they will realize they have been snookered by the world leader and run for their lives. Masses will be killed as Scripture makes clear. But God will miraculously save thousands as well.
And, interestingly, the Glory will be HIS AND HIS ALONE. He won't be sharing it with ANY other government, per se.
IMHO, it needs to be said loudly and over and over again: The people attacking Israel are identical to our enemies in the WOT - the ones who are trying to kill us.
This cannot be repeated enough. And if this very clear connection is made, then how we support Israel becomes a no brainer. They are our front line primary allies in a war for both our survivals.
