Let's face it: the vast majority of the offerings on cable news networks aren't very good. This article analyzes some common traps cable news networks often fall in. From partisan politics to populism to media bias, cable news networks should be viewed more as entertainment rather than legitimate news commentary sources.
It is so incessently Pavlovian.
What do they think we are, salivating dogs reacting to every emotional stimulus, rather than deep, relaxed, seasoned thinkers, capable of meaningful analysis and conclusions??
Unless, vast and increasing segments of Joe Six Pack Out there are becoming THAT dumbed down and easily manipulated--I hope their polling and marketing research does not show that. Otherwise, God Save Our Republic.
I call BS. It's a left wing screed.
I hate the "breaking news" gong on Fox. It almost always precedes something incredibly trivial.
In these parts, we have a certain sound on our teevee stations that people know means a bad weather warning, as in huge tornados heading our way. Everyone snaps to and pays attention when they hear that sound. Well, some dufuses in advertising decided to begin their corny ads with that sound--finally, teevee stations refused to air such ads, out of concern that the next time a tornado headed our way, no one would pay any attention.
Fox has done that with their very stupid use of the breaking news feature. When real breaking news happens, I usually don't know it unless I see it on FR. I don't rely on Fox to tell me any more.
Hah. Even worse, "Missing blondes."
What a poorly done article.
If you'll notice, there are two number three reasons, which seems to have been overlooked by the writer.
Also, the statement that "there is no leftist scheme censoring Hollywood or academia of conservative ideas" is false. Conservative ideas are routinely excised from academia in the form of books and instruction. There is nothing undeliberate about it.
And the only thing Kafkaesque about this sentence...
"Otherwise, it is a notably Kafkaesque exercise when these pundits to blame their own failure to promote their own political perspective on the media's alleged promotion of its political perspective."
...is its impenetrability. The writer has missed the existentialist Kafka by a mile.
Ya talking 'bout FOX's Soap Box Tabloid Greta Van Nuthin'?
Thanks. The Prometheus Institute is an interesting site. Worth taking a look at.
Get lost!
It's plain lying. That's what they do best and unfortunately, that's all there is.
