Anyhoo, it is my understanding that the US does not recognize Dual Citizenship. When my husband took his "oath", he in effect, renounced his Canadian citizenship. Essentially it's determined by the laws of the "other" country, not the US. I believe Canada would consider your husband a Canadian citizen unless he took action in Canada to renounce his citizenship, if he can. If that's true, in the context of an article like this he'd hold dual citizenship. Same with an American going to Canada. Becoming a Canadian citizen doesn't constitute a renouncement of American citizenship. The draft dodgers of the 60s-70s would have loved that. I suspect a lot of these people consider themselves Lebanese.

The U.S. does not "recognize" dual citizenship, but it has never forced people to give up their U.S. citizenship when obtaining citizenship elsewhere. If your husband had been a U.S. citizen first and decided to seek Canadian citizenship, he would have effectively been a dual citizen regardless of what the U.S. said.
There's also the issue of people who are dual citizens by birth (i.e., they meet the legal requirements for citizenship in two countries simply because of where they were born and the nationalities of their parents).

You're right. When he travels to Canada, he can get into Canada with his Canadian passport....however, he can't get back into the US without his naturalization papers or his American passport.

Anyone who is a supporter of Hezbollah, Syria, Iran, or any of the other sundry Mussie groups, Citizen of the US or not, should be required to forfeit their Citizenship and line up for deportation.
Leave those in Lebanon, IN Lebanon. They got what they wanted, now leave them there.

Quite frankly I doubt the report. An awful lot of Americans with ties to Lebanon and dual citizenship are Christians who emigrated to escape persecution or pursue the American dream, but still have family back in the Old Country, and return to visit when times are peaceful. Exactly. But based on her past columns, this is not a journalist who cares any more about facts than Dan Rather does.

Strikes me as another raving perpetually indignant lunatic. I know Debbie Schlussel and have always had a high regard for her scholarship, writings, investigative work, and achievements. She has been on the ball about Islamofascist infiltration and influence in this country, and has done us all a great service by exposing them, especially Sami Al-Arian.
Given the influence of liberals, communists, and Islamofascists and their supporters, don't you think she has a lot to be perpetually indignant about?

IF they are American citizens, and want out, we have to get them out and bring them to the US. Their citizenship entitles them to the protection of the United States just as does that of any other citizen. Like them or not.
If they're supporters of Hezbollah, we should keep a (legal) eye on them. But, unless they commit a crime, the have as much right to be here as you or I do.

Anchor babies are Americans & never have to take any oath. Their parents countries may also consider these children citizens. Depending on the country, whether it's a signer to the Hague Convention or not, some dual citizenship's are recognized by the US. Typically, it only comes up in custody cases.
To: DJ MacWoW
Exactly, and the Dems/MSM are whining that we should pay, so that means the US will end up paying.
And 6 months from now, they will complain that to much abuse took place in the rush.
Like clockwork.

I read on a thread earlier (wish I could find it) that congress had passed a bill sometime ago that the US doesn't pay for evacuations. They'd better stick to that.
