Let the popular vote rule! Except when it bans gay marriages, abortions, etc.

I kind of agree, but then it is always fun to meddle in our own small way.

"San Francisco Comicle"
Yeah, but with a low number of votes so far, we can sometimes mess with their polls. "For Entertainment purposes only"

Here is a fun statistic--which I bet the fools at the Chronicle don't know.
Since 1860, the Democrats have won a majority of the vote, SIX times. Four of those with the same candidate. I have left out 1876 since that was quite a mess--but if you insist that would make it seven times. Out of 37 elections.
Go team--just crank up that popular vote machine.

That settles it: SF will elect another cornholer for President by acclamation!

I have a GREAT IDEA!!!
Let's put EVERYTHING up to popular votes!
Then we will have TRUE DEMOCRACYpure and simple!!!
Forget checks & balances, forget the reasons for those checks & balances, we can have nothing less than democ... uh... pure, unsullied mob rule. As Kipling once put it:
Whether The People be led by The Lord,
Or lured by the loudest throat:
If it be quicker to die by the sword
Or cheaper to die by vote—
These are things we have dealt with once,
(And they will not rise from their grave)
For Holy People, however it runs,
Endeth in wholly Slave.

Only because the Dems know they can "pad" the vote in heavy Dem states.
The "Algore 2000 Recount" strategy
Then theres that pesky Constitutional issue.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner ~ B. Franklin
The electoral college gives the smaller states a voice the popular vote would deny.

Thanks! You should have gotten a warm and fuzzy feeling after voting.
(Seriously, I consider it cheap entertainment and if myself and the poll ping list get a kick out of skewing an internet poll to the good side, it's icing on the cake)

Kipling would be banned under mob rule. He spoke too much truth.

What an idiotic poll. How about popular vote by electoral district with the state-wide popular vote winner getting the two additional electoral college votes?

Interstate compacts are illegal by the constitution. Article 1, Section 10.
Besides, since most Democrats support homosexual activity or abortions, or are engaged in felonious criminal activity, the chances of the Democrats winning another popular vote for Presidents is slim indeed.
Demographics is Destiny.
