Looked at objectively, the world isn't particularly violent at the moment.

20,000 British getting killed on one day at the Somme? Now THAT'S violence.

With all due respect, but when has this never been the case? History did not begin the day any of us were born.

People have sort of an egotistical desire to believe the times they live in are completely unique in every way.

Thanks for the ping. It's nice to be able to read and discuss this here without a bunch of people tossing "popcorn" at you:') Prayers for Israel.

It could be Isaiah 17, the Burden of Damascus or Ezekiel 38 the first battle of Gog and Magog.

Huh?! Russia does not have a dog in the fight in the current ME ruckus. 20 years ago when Syria and Egypt were Soviet clients but today. Nyet!

There is nothing unique in this ancient battle.

The choices we make in our dealings with others and ourselves - are not limited to any age.

But nothing lasts forever.

In my faith we believe that man's
accumulation of bad choices will end in the Middle East with a great war. Where goodness will prevail.

But that is of faith...

I have a nonreligious colleague who believes that "All species are subject to cycles of sustained growth and sudden calamity".

Nothing last forever.

Bingo.

Dispensational Christians are Pro-Israel and always will be. And it has NOTHING to do with endtimes or armegeddon or prophecy.

It has all to do with we believe Israel (The Jews) are STILL God's people and thus our brothers and sisters.

Dispensational Christians do NOT believe that the Church has replaced Israel. We believe that God will keep EVERY promise and covenant that he made with Abraham and Isaac, his seed. That's the Jews.

We are the best Friends that Jews have besides the Almighty.

The odd thing is that Christian evangelicals love Israel, but do not particularly like Jews. Israel is a concept, as well as a real nation of people. Christian evangelicals are in love with the concept. But often on FR threads, Jews are taunted for being "liberals" and "demo-rats". And the slightest criticism of Israel's policies are quickly labelled "anti-semitism". Jews in America have long supported separation of church and state in issues like school prayers and public displays of Christianity, but this is opposed by Christian evangelicals.

Israel loves getting support from Christians, but this is a very weird alliance. It seems that both sides are using the other for political gains in the short term for religious and political objectives. Every American supports Israel's right to exist, but whether Israel's actions support the US's interests is at least a question mark. There is the potential for the tide of public opinion to shift against conservative values.

The Jehovah's Witnesses, I understand, think that something significant happened in 1914. And whether their relgious teachings are true or not, that is a great insight. Think of the world of the early 1900s, and look at the world today. Consider what has happened in the last 100 years. Barbara Tuchman talked about a "Proud Tower," and how it fell. We seem to have raised a higher one, and like the first it may be laid low.

We love the Jews in spite of some Jew's liberalism and, in many cases, anti-Christian bigotry. Israel IS the Jews, period. Not the real estate.

It is something we understand that must be played out and unfolded in God's plan.

They are the Lord's to judge.

some Jew's liberalism and, in many cases, anti-Christian bigotry

Hmm, so quickly is "anti-Christian bigotry" brought up. This usually is used against Jews who choose not to convert. Is this your view?

Is it your view that "God's Plan" assures that Israel's government and policies are given special protection as "the chosen people"?

The Lord's judgment might be in the distant future; for the meantime, whether Israel's politics and America's best interests for our generation are on the same path seems a question mark.

Quickly brought up? I think not.

I don't seek to "convert" anyone. I share my faith. If they do not wish to hear it, I do not bother them further. Fact is the Jews are NOT going to "convert". The NT states this. There will be a few here and there, but the bulk will not.

The bigotry comes from their calling fundamental Christian beliefs anti-semitic and hateful. and trying to legislate (by the courts) public display or practice out of existence.

To your second question.. Yes.. to a great degree. If not, again, they are the Lord's to judge, and we must be very careful how we handle them.

And last, I can only pray that the US and Israel's interest will always be the same.

Are you kidding me? don't we need our 100 or 1000 years of peace first. Isn't that in the Bible?

Not even Ezekiel 38 - yet. Everything is in place except for the fact that Israeli's are not living securely in a land of un-walled villages. When the Security walls come down, watch out.

"From my viewpoint there are only 2 ways the terrorist can be completely beaten once and for all. Knock them down and back, they'll just rise up again later. They need to either"

Knock out their Holy places and cities with Atomic weapons...make war so hellish for them that they'll never embrace Hell again....then sneeringly rub it in...."If your Allah was so powerful, why did Allah allow so called infidel dogs to destroy Mecca, Qom, ect....?"

You have to destroy their psychological anchorings which rely on outward shrines and cities as well as personal deeds....

From Ezekiel 38:

11 "I will go up against a land of open villages and attack the peaceful people who are living in security, all of them living without walls, having neither bars nor gates,

12 to plunder and pillage, turning my hand against the ruins that were repeopled and against a people gathered from the nations, a people concerned with cattle and goods, who dwell at the navel of the earth."

Sadly, this does not sound like Israel today. Clearly, Ezekiel spoke of an overwhelming attack against a quiet, peaceful Israel. Peace has to happen first. And THAT has not happened in the 57 years that Israel has existed.

Ezekiel 38 isn't ready to happen....yet.

People have sort of an egotistical desire to believe the times they live in are completely unique in every way.

And those who believe such are, of course, always correct. Every moment in history IS completely unique in every way.
