An Indian state has banned the sale of soft drinks as the country's highest court told the US beverage giants Pepsico and Coca-Cola to reveal the ingredients of their products.

"The ban will be in force in all educational institutes, including medical and technical colleges and universities and offenders will be punished," a spokesman from the administration of northern Rajasthan state announced Friday.

And I wonder why would God want to arbitrate over matters of "right world view"?

Or is God an American?

Because God is holy, and has no sin, He cannot lie. If something, anything, is wrong or untrue, it is against God.

Because of His love, and mercy, and grace, He wants to help every individual walk in that same truth and light.

is God an American?

How would we know what God was like, unless He chose to reveal Himself to us?

Which He did.

It still does not explain why would God want to involve Himself/Herself/Itself in worldly politics. "World view" is a matter of historical/geographical/geopolitical perspective, experience, prerogative, compulsions of a group of people, and there is no such thing as "right world view-point" as endorsed by God himself (unless YOU are blinded by your own righteousness which you mistakenly assume to be GOD'd view-point).

I think I read somewhere that farmers in Maharashtra supposedly used pepsi on their crops as pesticides were too concentrated!!!

Indians are free to do whatever they want. That's not the issue. But a protectionist policy regarding imports, even if it is masqueraded as a health issue, ultimately disadvantages that country.

India won't really suffer too much by this farce. I'm not sure how many Indians are employed by Coke and Pepsi to bottle and distribute the drinks in that country. Probably less than 30,000 nationwide will need to find new jobs.

Hardly noticeable. But notice also that you didn't do a thing about pesticides in your water. All you did was eliminate foreign suppliers of soft drinks.

I find American double standards astounding. I remember a few years ago America stalled garment imports from India claiming they are "inflammable" (a ludicrous claim). When it comes to third rate American products which are down right harmful you have Americans screaming like hell. It is disgraceful that America should even continue to sell consumables that are downright poisonous.

Banning a single product makes a whole damn country "protectionist"? Aww gimme a break!

FYI ever damn country on this planet is "protectionist" in one way or another be it protecting their own business interests or the safety of their health.

As for there being pesticides in water, if there is really such a thing, it is still a separate issue.

Yes I have heard that too. I even heard that some places Pepsi/Coke is used to separate cement concrete from tiles.

1. I don't know which case you mean but flamability strandards for both U.S. manufactured or imported clothing were established when Congress enacted the Flammable Fabrics
Act of 1953 - those rules about excessive flamability aren't directed at India.

2. Coca Cola uses local water and cleans it up better than any local firm is likely to.

If that's what this was about then the high court wouldn't have ordered them to reveal their (trade secret) ingredients - they would order then to reduce pesticides.

You believe your own propaganda.

Coca Cola doesn't import any pesticides, and it doesn't import any bottled or canned finished product.

So where are those pesticides coming from?

INDIA you moron. Yet you blame the Americans. And accuse us of double-standards.

No.. they know Coke won't reveal the secret formula - this was to destroy Coke as a competitor.

"Coca Cola doesn't import any pesticides,"

Coca Cola doesn't imports pesticides, it IS a pesticide.

Firstly Coca Cola imports the cola concentrate from US. Secondly it does not matter there the pesticide comes from. If their finished product have unacceptable levels of pesticide then we ban it regardless of where the pesticides comes from.
