Dixie Chicks fly the coop
Herald Today ^ | August 4 2006 | WADE TATANGELO

Posted on 08/05/2006 5:51:30 AM PDT by NautiNurse

It was announced late today that the Dixie Chicks's Oct. 5 concert at the St. Pete Times Forum in has been cancelled. Ticket holders were advised to contact their original point of purchase for refunds and information on alternate area concerts.

The Dixie Chicks camp is reporting that the tour was rerouted "to allow the group some promotion time in September around the debut of the documentary film 'Dixie Chicks' Shut Up and Sing.'"

The Dixie Chicks released the following statement: "This is a year where we weren't sure what to expect. We were prepared for a lot of things as we figure out this new phase of our career. What we weren't prepared for, however, was the overly passionate audience response at all of the stops on the tour so far. We are truly at a loss for words to explain what that has meant to us. We hope that our fans who were looking forward to a stop that is no longer on the tour will be able to join us at a nearby arena this fall, and we are sorry for any confusion or inconvenience these changes have caused."

The Dixie Chicks have been mostly blacklisted from country radio ever since singer Natalie Maines criticized President Bush, despite the fact that the group's album "Taking The Long Way" is one of the biggest sellers in country music this year. The Miami Herald reports that "ticket sales in Red States have been sluggish throughout the tour."

They cancel a concert for lack of ticket sales, and say they are overwhelmed by their fans' support. Yeah..sure.

"Dixie Chicks fly the coop"

Hah!
Why don't they "fly the coop" all the way to Iran?

Yeah, in blue states.

I think this is the first form of a boycott that I have seen that has actually worked to a degree. I believe they can redeem themselves if Natalie writes a song on the next album entitled, "I am a stupid Hick Chick" or " I desrve to be called a Bitch" or " I should never have opened my big fat country mouth" as an apology to the country and to her fans.

I would love to be in the room when their accountant tells the three signers how many millions of dollars they lost. And I bet Bill Clinton will do all he can to try and console Natalie.

Funny, everyone else knew what to expect.

Florida is taking its red label seriously.

if they can't produce in a place named after the St. Pete Times, you know they're in trouble. This could very well be a sign of a cultural watershed. Who's sinking faster, the MSM or the leftist entertainment industry?

"Dixie Chicks' Shut Up and Sing" film??? How ironic! If only they took their own advice.

Wow....a falsehood and plagiarism in the same quote!

Allowing some promotion? Attention Chickies: that's what a tour is supposed to be! Bad luck if nobody's interested in the promotion.

'Shut Up And Sing' is already taken. It's the title of Laura Ingraham's popular book. I hope Laura takes action on this one.

It's obvious that the Chickies think that the 'outlaw' image is the way forward and no doubt their documentary will feature some serious self-pity and paranoia.

No doubt the "passionate" fans are clowns in the kook-left element who are dutifully turning out at concerts to cheer the Dixie Sheehans on.

The Chicks misinterpret their "passionate" fan base at their own peril.

Might have helped if her mother had used one.

On Natalies overdeveloped backside, to eliminate the now overdeveloped selfindulged ego.

George Soros should come to the rescue and purchase all the tickets for a concert or two.
