I find some problems with your list. Looking at only the Senators, you seem to be using lifetime ratings for some, and 2005 ratings for others. For example, Lincoln Chafee has a 12 for 2005, and a 37 lifetime, and you have him down as a 12. Conversely, Arlen Specter has a 63 for 2005 and a 45 lifetime, and you have down as a 45. Also, why isn't Norm Coleman (R-MN) (64 for 2005) on your list of liberal Republicans, and why isn't Ken Salazar (D-CO) (32 for 2005) on your list of conservative Democrats? This is just with one quick glance...I wouldn't be surprised to find more mistakes.

Good catch. Probably inadvertent by the author, but I was questioning some of these, too.
Byrd is considered to be one of the most conservative Democrats? And more conservative than Nelson!? Where is the evidence that backs that up? Byrd votes far more liberal than Nelson in Nebraska, and Nelson actually supports the tax cuts, the war, and opposes partial birth abortion and voted for all but ONE of Bush's judicial appointments; supporting Roberts AND Alito, a nd opposed the weak Senate border bill. There is no way Byrd is the most conservative Democrat Senator.
I missed Nelson when I looked at it. Now it makes sense seein that. :) But I don't know how Landrieu made it either. She's quite liberal and against all things Conservative and part of the generational Democrat corruption that is Louisiana politics.

Dangus, this is an error on the ACU's part. McInnis retired in the previous Congress and this is actually 'Rat John Salazar's ACU rating.
Landrieu has moved rightward over the past year. With Katrina running many of her usual New Orleans voters out of the state, she's scared that she might not have as many big city machine voters bussed in to save her in the next election. Even so, the rat still voted against Alito.
McCain isn't too liberal according to this...
I thought the data for McInnis seemed strange; I didn't remember him retiring, but I certainly didn't remember him being so liberal... I'm actually kinda glad to know that Salazar is moderate... too bad his brother isn't, but if his brother was that moderate, he'd be more conservative than the Republican caucus. >:^[

Oops... I didn't see this later posting. Landrieu is quite liberal, but there are almost no moderates left in the Democratic caucus: Joe "too-conservative-to-trust" Lieberman is a lockstep liberal.
Lugar may have made the list in years gone past. There are disappearing moderates. The most liberal (Chafee, DeWine, Collins, Snowe) have gone outright liberal, and the less liberal (such as Lugar) have become fairly reliable conservatives.
Noo, I think some of the conservative special-interest groups pick their chosen issues to go soft on the Arizona rat pack.
