Those who have experiences...Any idea how to start a new private school where character and integrity counts and be taught?

Marva Collins did it. I believe she may have written a book or two about it.

I don't know how to start one, but it sounds like a good idea.

You might try searching for "charter schools" -- I think those charters can be very broad and you might get some info on how to start one.

With sentence structure like that, I certainly hope you're not going to try and teach English!

Hillsdale K-12. And the curricum program is free for the downloading. The state should have education codes that detail how to start a private school.

We homeschooled, but this private school is working in our community for low income students and I'm sure it's model could be adapted to a regular school without the intensive restrictions used for these students.

It has an interesting formula for success that is not limited to the classroom, but even has the kids doing chores around the school. They folllow a model laid down by the Jesuits.

They are run on private donations, not government money...so they are free to operate as they wish. And the students entry is based on merit. All students attend free...as I said, scholarships are raised from private donations.

It's an interesting concept which seems to be having results (and they're working with inner city kids, who are allowed in on the basis of academic merit.) It operates 6 days a week, 11 hours a day...which of course could be modified, but for the kids it caters too, being at school is better than being "on the street."

I've met some of the kids that have gone through the program and I was impressed with them.

The big problem is the pool of teachers available for hiring. By the time they are thru their degrees, they have been so thoroughly indoctrinated in self-esteem and all the other silly ideas that dominate education today, they may think they are conservative, character based folks, but they bring all the junk of the education system to their classes.

National Heritage Academies is a charter school in several states that teaches a "virtues"-based character curriculum.

Does English skills be on the curriculum? If so, home schooling might not be the best solution in this particular instance.
