N. Korean Authorities Urge Civilians to Evacuate Near Site of Possible Nuke Test (Breaking)
Headline News Yahooo Japan (in Japanese) JIJI PRESS ^ | 19 August 2006 | JIJI Press, quoting Joongang Ilbo Daily

Posted on 08/18/2006 7:46:33 PM PDT by AmericanInTokyo

Reports from Seoul Korea, (daily newspaper Joongang Ilbo in Seoul) via the Japanese Jiji press agency, that South Korean intelligence has intercepted radio messages/communications in North Korea, which were aired last month, to civilians in the Kilju County, Northern Hamgyeong Province area of northeastern D.P.R.K., to evacuate.

The source in the South Korean government said "our interpretation is that following North Korea's underground nuclear blast test, they wish to head off any escape of radiation that would be a threat to the nearby civilian population and are evacuating as such."

would you buy a nuclear warhead from someone, without a demo?

Heck no. That is just me, though. I would also demand a proven delivery system, and make sure that there was sufficient blackmail of politicians. And make sure that there was huge military backing, ala China and Russia.

But that is just me.

As i am made to understand it, representations from the Islamic Republic were in fact at Musudanri as invitees for the launch on 5 July. I wonder what they were told when the damn thing blew up shortly after launch, though.

That explains this:

Gadhafi says he spoke with North Korea

===

My guess is that GAdhafi was our last ditch effort to persuade NK that they would end up a lot better off, if they gave up their nukes, as G. wisely has done.

And I bet the idiot little NK dictator refused to listen.

yes, but the shorter range ones tested - isn't that all they need for a theatre range weapon?

Depends on whether I wanted to be sure it worked as advertised or I didn't care if it fizzled.

Not to worry. I get these notices all the time in my neighborhood. "Notice: We may or may not conduct a nuclear test in your area today, so you may or may not wish to evacuate."

Well ( knowing the power of our GBU's), Hitler went out in a blast of fiery hot 'glory' deep in his underground bunker during his honeymoon.

Maybe this little dictator, too, will go the same way. There is a precedent.

Could a North Korean nuke test be Ahmadinejad's August 22nd announcement? We're all looking for him to bomb Israel but he sends one off in the other direction?

Yes. This is what happened.

China might try, too, but they will have no luck with this nutcase at the helm in P'yang.
