It's about 40 years since her album with the Stone Ponies was out. In her day, 40 year old music included stuff like the Charleston and Lucky Lindy. She's not groovy anymore.
During Superbowl XXXVII (2003) I recall that he complained that all of the "brown" performers were relegated to the pregame show (the halftime acts were Shania Twain, No Doubt, and Sting and Gwen Stefani together). The next year we were all blessed with the MTV produced wardrobe malfunction Janet Jackson freak show, and lately it seems that the NFL has settled on producing their own mild 60's icon extravaganzas.
Oink!
Wasn't Kevin Kline the Pirate King in that? >>
Yep.
And you're right, it probably was late 80's. Time marches on.
Having read (on FR, where else?) that there is trouble in the Ditzy Chix camp, Linda Roundstadt is positioning herself as a replacement for the equally (as her) neckless fat chick in the trio. Wait and see...
Yeah, Kathleen Turner is certainly no Joan Rivers!
I loved her version of Blue Bayou, ditto When Will I Be Loved, Tracks of My Tears, etc. Her slow stuff was wonderful; when she tried to rock out, it didn't work so well. Also, her album of standards with Nelson Riddle was excellent.
Dateline: The Barely Relevant Line
"Yawn" Was she trying to revive her career again?
Blue Bayou?
She should never have tried to touch Roy's classic gem!
Momma Cass???
How sad. She has such a beautiful voice and made some great music in her day, and yet apparently has the intelligence of a tree stump.
National Lampoon used to just hammer them. It was hilarious:)
As Laura Ingraham would say, "Shut up and sing."
She was one of the few of the 70s I had the hots for. She had hits in a dozen different genres... 3 different genre of her Mexican immigrant background plus blues, rock, country, etc of the USA.
Chief, I'm waiting for you to post the Obama smacks down Neil Steinberg article in the Sunday Sun-Times.
"I saw Kathlene Turner (Jewel of the Nile, Peggy Sue got Married, etc) on TV recently and it shocked me, didn't look at all like the young sexy one she used to be."
Oh yeah, Kathleen's taken a regular beating from an ugly stick for quite a while.
DFU SONG: I Don't Know Much (you won't believe what Ronstadt had for lunch)

Look at this whale...it's sad...the poor woman keeps eating
She was a babe once...but, as we see, it was fleeting
The buffet line is closed...it's two hours past her gra-azing time
(la la) But where is Neville? ...she's eaten him for lunch
She feels bad...but it's something she can't control
He was quite tasty...quite common for men with soul
The buffet line is closed...it's two hours past her gra-azing time
(la la) But where is Neville? ...she's eaten him for lunch
How she went downhill...the glory days are gone
Where did she go wrong...she had done many of the best old songs
Come on, Linda...shut up and sing...shut up and sing
Just shut the F up and sing your songs for the crowd
Escorted out...her butt was thrown right out of that casino
Then on her tour bus...there's crackers, cheese, and vino
The buffet line is closed...it's two hours past her gra-azing time
(la la) But where is Neville? ...she's eaten him for lunch
We do not want them spouting their views...up on stage
That is not what we had come there to hear, not at all...stop it, stop it now
The buffet line is closed...it's two hours past her gra-azing time
(la la) But where is Neville? ...she's eaten him for lunch
The buffet line is closed...it's two hours past her gra-azing time
(la la) But where is Neville? ...she's eaten him for lunch

Way to go! Here is the class act at the Oscars with his murdering Che shirt.
I detest her politics too, but she had a great sound, a great voice.
I'd boycott her CD ... if I could find one.
