May I amend that?
We are all sinners. Clinton was the favorite of sinners who wanted to wallow in their sin and call good evil and evil good. Bush was not.
Point taken.
Culturally, perhaps. Politically, unlikely -- religious influence over political institutions smells too much of the enemy.
Well, there IS a "Holy War" going on between Christianity and Islam. It's been "going on" since the eighth century or so....

I read that book. 9/11/01 was right on schedule as a crisis moment to bring the next great turning.
Very true. I was thinking that very thing when I wrote it. Although I would say that religious belief, or at least respect for religious belief, is a characteristic of conservatism. I think what we see in the heated discussions on FR is a clash between conservatives and libertarians.
The "faith-based initiative" is alive and well. Read the latest issue of World Magazine.
Well-said. I'm heartened to read such thoughtful and insightful comments on FR.
The Promise Keepers rally was really over a million people - and the MSM knew it. I will never forget Sam Donaldson admitting this on the ABC morning show - and I thought Cokie Roberts was going to cry and have a heart attack right then and there.
Thank you. While I comment quite infrequently, I have enjoyed lurking and learning from you and others here.
Good article.Quote:"Bush....had to apologize for using the word "crusade" in 2001.I recall that muslims and the msm found GW's use of the word crusade offensive and "hurtfull".The truth is we are in a struggle that is based primarily on religon ie Islam vs the rest of the world and the sooner people figure that out that better off we'll be.I hate to say it but i believe it will require another 911 type attack.
So you think that the Third Awakening that brought with it Prohition, SS, and other social programs (not to mention the huge expansion of the federal government) was a good thing?
If that was an awakening, let's go back to sleep.
I don't consider Fogel's "third awakening" as an awakening. In the classical sense, an "awakening" is primarily spiritual, and renews the religious and spiritual lives of people and the nation. Typically, social reforms flow out of such awakenings (after the Wesleyian revival in England, child labor laws were enacted, and the slave trade came under opposition which ultimately eliminated it), but social reforms are not the sign nor the nature of "awakenings."
I have that picture on the wall of my home office. Thanks for the reminder. That event was a pivotal moment in my life.
Good is to evil as Judeo-Christian ethic is to ...
What is that word I'm looking for? Anybody?
How long will it be before someone takes the bully pulpit and speaks the plain truth?
Don't you feel that many, many Christians feel that not only our country and our way of life are under attack, but that Islamic-facists are hell-bent on destroying Christians and Christianity......
Phew!
I'm glad to see that we agree or I'd have to demote you to My1cent. LOL
There is a civil war waging now in America.
It isn't being fought with guns and, swords or knives, it's being fought by lies and innuendos from the left.
This is a war of good versus evil and, the left has so little knowledge of Christianity they spew their hatred to our president and to conservatives.
The Liberals are causing a great divide in America and this is just what the so called,( peace of religion wants).
LOL. I've often given my two cents here, and have been given back change.
