A new, exclusive News Ten survey is out tonight with Governor Jennifer Granholm widening her lead over Republican challenger Dick DeVos.
Fifty-percent of the people surveyed in the Epic-MRA poll said they will vote for the incumbent, while 42 percent say will vote for DeVos.
The last News Ten poll in July showed Granholm leading with only three-percentage points, making the race a statistical dead heat.
When it comes to Michigan's slow economy, President Bush gets more blame. 44 percent of voters polled say they blame the President, while only 28 percent point at Granholm.
In the race for US Senate, 54 percent of those surveyed will vote for Democratic incumbent Debbie Stabenow. 34 percent say they will vote for Republican challenger Michael Bouchard.
MI is nearly as hopeless as IL when it comes to conservative politics. No wonder ol' George Romney was so liberal way, way back then. Now he looks kind of conservative in retrospect.
But wait, he's going to have them teach Intelligent Design in MI...
You've got to hand it to them. An economic basket case of a state, and still they can stick it out.
God help us all here in Michigan.
"When it comes to Michigan's slow economy, President Bush gets more blame."
Why oh why oh why are the people always blaming Bush? It's not his job to look after Michigan's interests!
I seem to remember looking at urban and rural voting statistics from 2000. Without the City of Detroit, Bush wins handily in Michigan. Meaning, any margin of victory requires defection of minority blacks in Detroit. Is this the case?
The last person leaving please flush the toilet.
You may be right, and Philadelphis preserved PA for Kerry. I don't know if Kerry would have won IL without Chicago or not, but they are very liberal in Chicago and will remain so.
I saw a more recent poll put them at dead even. SurveyUSA did a poll a few days later and said that it was 47-47.

EPIC-MRA seems to keep showing Granholm higher then the others this time around. I wonder what the numbers will do after Granholm and DeVos debate (finally, a real chance to kill that stupid China non-issue).
MGY
I think it will depend more on how many jobs we lose between now and November. The Big Three aren't done yet, and that doesn't include all the OEMs and suppliers who are bleeding red ink.
Geez, I don't want to think of the damage that lame-duck lib can do before she leaves office. The tax hikes could be huge to pay for more welfare and unemployment bennies, social services, etc.
Quote possibly. A friend of mine stated that to improve MIchigan, we would have to nuke Detroit. I can't disagree. Detroit is the Achilles heel of the conservative movement in Michigan.
Do they have voter ID requirements in Detroit?
It's official. The people of my state are just plain stupid.
But that's true in most of the Blue states. Fact of life.
With respect to the auto sector, neither the gov nor the president have much of anything to do with it, believe it or not. On the other hand the gov could do something to try to make the state attractive to other industries that are looking to expand, etc.
What a pathetic state.
Well, good point. I'm jsut sick of everyone blaming Bush.
