House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., requested Sunday that the Justice Department conduct an investigation into former Rep. Mark Foley (news, bio, voting record)'s electronic messages to teenage boys a lurid scandal that has put House Republicans in political peril.
"As Speaker of the House, I hereby request that the Department of Justice conduct an investigation of Mr. Foley's conduct with current and former House pages to determine to what extent any of his actions violated federal law," Hastert wrote in a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
One wonders just what The Pubbie policy on investigating the Dems actually IS?
We have them by the , well you know what I mean, and perhaps they are using the continued threat of investigating Jefferson to ride herd on the Dems in Congress.
I think Jefferson is just the bag man for a kick back scheme for Dem fund raising, and we should roll up the whole pit of snakes, but obviously Hastert has other ideas, but he's not sharing them with us.
Oh for the days when Tom DeLay was the house whip.
I know this isn't even applicable in this situation...but you reminded me of that AWFUL legal decision in California not too long ago...(9th circuit?).
Saying that the teachers have MORE rights than parents when children as young as 8 were given questionnaires asking questions about masturbation....
When the parents got mad and said they didn't want their children to be asked such questions...the court took the school's side against the parents.
Now, asking an 8 year old about "touching yourself" ..."does it feel good"...and other questions about masturbation....
How much "LESS" disturbing is that, than the e-mails that Foley supposedly sent to the page??? (NOT, NOT, excusing Foley here).
LOL
I'm so impressed that when these stories unravel, the Republicans are found to have followed the required procedures every step of the way. The Dems are once again picking and coosing what to highlight and ending up with egg on their face.
The unraveling times are getting shorter. With Hastert's referral, this is off the tubes by Tuesdays, there will be no one to man the 'other side' and it all becomes moot while the investigation of *all who knew* goes on.
Time for a "Hastert, you magnificent ba$tard!' photo. LOL
Ugh. Hastert and other GOP leaders knew in '05-- link from Drudge: http://apnews.myway.com/article/20061001/D8KFQRQO1.html
This, after Hastert said he *didn't* know. I really feel sick now.

LOL...how many times does Sissy Chrissy Matthews have to eat crow before President Bush retires????
I hope every single time he takes Bush's name in vain...which is only about a dozen times a night....LOL
He must really be thrilled to know that Glenn Beck on Headline News has higher ratings that he does...yay
Of course, then there is the comedy team of Carville & Begala....starring at a post-election postmortem near you!!
Eureka! You found it.
I can barely read the "emails"
You got sucked under.
I read your link while ago; that's all very interesting.
Maybe we should have an investigation, eh?
At the very pinnacle of the movie, Gere's best bud (played by David Keith) zooms past on a speed boat and yells out "FOLEY's A QUEER", which of course gets Gere (Zack Mayo) into big trouble.
Guess you had to see it.
You thought about it in the exact sequence that I did...
What was funny was on the Friday thread when the news first broke about Foley's resignation, the first question posted by a freeper about "what did they know, and when did they know it" ..
was NOT about the GOP leadership, but the DEM leadership...and I wasn't a bit surprised to see that question.
There are just too many links, ties, coincidences and time lapses to make this a "simple" story of a man, his sickness, and his problem being "found out"...nope, that doesn't wash.
And, like you...the IMPORTANT item is that he is NOT in Congress anymore.
Congress also needs to clean out any other "pen pals"...and make it clear that what happened is NOT acceptable.
GOP leadership needs to do what they have done...but, come clean, and take their lumps IF they are justified. None of us know right now, who knew what..other than Foley of course.
I hope you had a good weekend....but, good to see you tonight!
Will we be able to overcome the Hastert misinformation?
Why are you accusing Hastert of lying?
I have to tell you...(I know I am OT again, sorry)...that I have actually hear teenagers say that the reason that oral sex is so prevalent among even YOUNG teenagers is because of Bill Clinton...
"If the POTUS can do it...and it isn't "sex", then why not?"
I have heard that from them personally...
you combine that with what I posted before, and I DARE Pelosi to put her hands on her hips and get TOO HUFFY!!
I'm glad Hastert is taking the initiative on this. This sure went from "innocent e-mails that were taken wrong" to "lurid, suggestive e-mails" really fast. And the DumbocRATS are trying to spread a dragnet -- who knew, and how long ago -- to try to trap as many Republicans as possible, or at least to create the APPEARANCE of impropriety. If Foley is truly guilty of this, then he needs to pay the price. But this is awfully conveeeeeeeeeeniently close to an election for this to start coming out now.
BTW, what's the CREW website?
