House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., requested Sunday that the Justice Department conduct an investigation into former Rep. Mark Foley (news, bio, voting record)'s electronic messages to teenage boys — a lurid scandal that has put House Republicans in political peril.

"As Speaker of the House, I hereby request that the Department of Justice conduct an investigation of Mr. Foley's conduct with current and former House pages to determine to what extent any of his actions violated federal law," Hastert wrote in a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

"... If a public official misuses his position to demand campaign contributions, CREW will find creative ways to seek civil remedies.

Like klintoon and goron???

If a witness is threatened or punished because she reported official misconduct, CREW will fight back on behalf of the witness — including representing that individual in court if necessary.

Like Kathleen Willy(?) and Paula Jones(?)

If a government agency withholds information to which the public is entitled, CREW will go to court to enforce legal rules regarding disclosure.

Like Rose Law Firm Records and FBI files(?)

If a group libels an honest public servant, CREW will help the victim defend his reputation.

Like the whole Travel Office Group that was fired and libeled(?)

Got this off their website. What a hoot!..............FRegards

Contrast this, what Hastert is doing, to what the Dems in the Congress did when the bent one was involved in his sordid affairs.

"exactly right. How can anybody accuse the GOP of not showing leadership over this?"

Because some in congress apparently knew about this months ago and because pages had apparently been warned about this guy for years. The leadership should have understood that not only was Foley's conduct unethical and disgraceful but that this kind of information is hard to keep a secret. It would have been best for all concerned if Foley had been pressed to resign months before the general election in as quiet a fashion as possible. Now we are in a situation where a seat we should have easily held is in play.

Gay congressman hitting on pages who are of the age of consent.

Not my thing at all, but until Foley is receiving BJs in the Oval Office I don't see how this helps the Dems with their socially liberal base. Unless, of course, the pages were under the age of consent.

Then I say lock Foley up and throw away the key.

Take a minute and think about what you posted. I don't blame the Dem's at all; if I could get close to Foley I'd beat the living crap out of him for doing harm for his gratification. Eff him and his ilk 10x!!!

Let's all blame everything on being an alcoholic. It worked for the Kennedys, why not?!!!

Someone needs to clean house in DC!!! Many of these people are just FREAKS! This is not a representative of the majority of the people in flyover country. Maybe they need to move back home instead of living in DC if they can be influenced so easily.

******

WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach reports receiving an alleged fax from Rep. Mark Foley: 'I strongly believe I am an alcoholic... On Saturday... I made arrangements to enter a renowned in-patient facility... '

from blogactive's website tonight:(keep it..things are disappearing all over the place)

Mike Rogers writes:
"Good news... Bad news...
Well the good news is that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is finally getting it. I called their Director of Communications, Bill Burton, to let him know that the Foley thing (and another case) were coming down the pike. While Burton promised to have someone email or return my call and didn't, I am glad he followed up on my call and was ready on Friday to come out of the gate running.

The bad new is they are still not paying enough attention... There are others within reach... If the Democrats would only fight half as hard as the Republicans.

I posted comments at the DCCC website on the Foley entry. Not only do their promises of returned calls and emails never come to fruition, but now they are deleting my comments from their blog, The Stakeholder.

Luckily the comments were cached before they axed them.

Here's the one I put up at 9:55pm:

Here's the one I put up at 10:02pm:

(Penelope has it saved in an image file..will post it later when I figure out how)

then Rodgers says:
"Well, at least they are paying attention."

(pen has it captured in an image file too...will post tomorrow when I figure out how)

geez..somebody smarter than me is gonna have to piece this puzzle together...lol.. maybe the DOJ!!

Here is the link to his curent page:

I assure you it's not just D.C. and I'm sure you are quite aware of that fact.

We have a world in a lot of hurt right now.

Our children are at risk from perverted teachers, bus drivers, etc.

Our college students are at risk on numerous fronts, and the culture has been degraded with every step to remove prayer and G-D from our midst.

No, it's not just DC. That is just where a bunch of elected perverts live many months of the year all in one place. Then they cover one another's butts once the fact is known. I doubt there is much any of them aren't aware of that goes on which shouldn't.

Perhaps Ms. Pelosi is a bit confused by the term "thug." Her father, Thomas D'Alessandro, broadcast wartime radio messages to Italy exhorting Italians to rise up against Benito Mussolini.

An ally in the program to get Italians to revolt was none other than Mafia don Charles "Lucky" Luciano, who, after the war, was paroled from a federal prison and deported to Italy where he continued to run the Mafia in exile.

D'Alessandro was elected Mayor of Baltimore in 1947 -- a time when Luciano's mob had a virtual free reign in the port of Baltimore. It would appear that Ms. Pelosi has forgotten that her mobbed up dear old dad dealt with thugs on a routine basis. Perhaps she should remember that the next time she has an urge to call a democratically-elected real populist leader (Pelosi does not know the meaning of the term "populist") a "thug."
