"Webb is just another political whore using his uniform as a campaign prop like JF Kerry."
***
All or most politicians are "political whores" to some extent. I'm not excusing his current campaign. I'm saying he probably would have been a better Defense Secretary than Rumsfeld.
Yea.
It does.
How 'bout you, druby?
Tell me/us if you think the Right can. ;^)
Hey druby take a wild leaping guess how the CT RINO votes on issues important to conservatives most of the time?
Or put another way, with who?
Go for it.
I'll repeat: Does the Right really need this guy?
I'll make it even simpler for you druby!!
Does the Right really need this flipflop turncoat quisling-shill?
Well do they, *druby*?
See you're "new" around here, huh.
...well wonder of wonders.
HA!!
Well you know that & I know that.
Now.
...tell it to *druby*. {g}
Where is the sarcasm?
Rummy, Bush, and Condi...have all the right enemies, both foriegn and domestic, in my book!
Ya but his Dem opponent is even nuttier!!!!!
Shays has already done this before.
The Iraqi factions just signed a new compact to try to stop the violence -- we need to give it some time to see if it works.
Bush wanted to bring democracy to Iraq and change the Middle East. Rummy did not, and he planned to remove the regime and leave the country no matter what the situation on the ground was. Rummy put Transformation over the troops and the War on Terror. Gen. Mark Scheid has only made one interview with the press since he resigned and he has no asked for Rummy to resign unlike others.
****************
I thought that was a valid question. Care to insult me now?
Chris is gonna start crying anytime. He is soooo weak.
Where did you get that RNC is pouring money into his race? I don't see it and BTW he is not a favorite of the RNC. Several Republican PACs have donated but I do not find a donation from RNC. Where is the link?
They may run a phone bank but they are doing that across the country in a lot of races. Also they are running ads.
I'm just pointing out the conundrum: The Republican party can insist on ideological purity and live in the wilderness, or it can embrace its liberal members (from districts where conservatives can't win) and maintain its political power.
Like BOR says, tell me where I'm going wrong here.
I call on Chris Shays to resign.
His whining has become intolerable.
Webb a better defense secretary than Rumsfield. Give me a break! Webb was terrible as Secretary of the Navy. Webb is against the war in Iraq but then you probably already knew that.
I don't agree. Rummy was not tactful, but it's not the business of troops to help support a propaganda attack on their leaders.
As it turned out, apparently the armored humvees, forced through by that press propaganda campaign, are more dangerous than the earlier ones, because they are top heavy. I believe more troops have died using them than would have otherwise.
"Webb was terrible as Secretary of the Navy. Webb is against the war in Iraq but then you probably already knew that."
****
How was he a terrible secretary?
Maybe Republicans should review what happened, and why, in the 1994 Congressional elections. Stand on specific, conservative positions and get support from the party. If you're a liberal POS who just happens to call themselves a Republican, you're on your own. This is the opposite of what the Republican party is doing now. Now they only look at "electability" determined by their own no-principle position which has led them to not only withdraw support from but to actively work against conservative candidates, all the while supporting candidates who would not even be "moderate" Democrats. If the Republicans don't stand on principle, they won't stand at all.
I think this whole glorification and deification of military figures has been blown far out of proportion. Every day we see generals or colonels who support or condemn Rumsfeld, support or denounce the war, engage in partisan politics one way or the other.
The fact is that they hold different opinions and see things from different perspectives - as do all of us.
Thank GOD the Founding Fathers gave CIVILIANS control over the military! Personally, I'm sick of seeing every veteran who enters politics being greeted like Marco Polo when he returned from China!!
