In this country we have a real system of justice. What if this guy was really innocent?

"Then there is always 'poetic justice"

Poetic justice is what happened to this creep.

So why have trials at all? Why not just let the police determine punishment?

>Investigators were interviewing some 140 inmates, he said.

Of whom of course saw or heard nothing "unusal."

With a name like Chamberlain from south OC in a Santa Ana jail, a city which is about 80% illegal immigrants , chances are he was beaten to death because he didn't fit the gang profile or speak the language of the other prisoners, doubtful they even knew or cared anything else, or if some of them were guiltless of the same crime.

You don't know if he was a creep and you don't know if he was guilty of the charges against him...
What you wish on others will come back onto you... now that's poetic justice.
You are the creep.

That's an unpatriotic point of view. Our laws call for a public trial before the bench of justice. No trial, no justice.

What happened in that shower is called a lynching. If you're on the side of a lynch mob, you're not on my side. My side believes in justice under law.

The law is not established to protect the guilty man; it is established to protect the innocent man accused of a crime he did not commit. If we allow this sort of thing, then no one is safe. Who knows -- next time it may be you or me that finds himself accused but innocent, looking down the business end of a lynch-mob's "justice".

"deputies saw beer cans and child pornography in his vehicle and arrested him for that, Amormino said."

Yeah, maybe the stuff wasn't his.

"They should be executed. He was "awaiting trial" on "suspicion". In our system we are INNOCENT until proven guilty.

I agree.

I have a problem here folks. I in no way would miss a pedophile who was killed by inmates in a prison. However, let's play devils advocate for just one second. What if the charges against this guy were false? If you have paid attention to the news in the past few years many inmates have been freed after DNA test confirmed they were innocent of committing a rape (and in many cases after spending more than a decade in prison). People are falsely accused in our society, and all deserve their day in court (regardless of the charges against them). To celebrate the "murder" of someone awaiting trial is wrong. Consider what if that was you, and you had been falsely accused of some act of pedophilia? Would you want to be placed in that position? We do have a system of justice in which everyone is by constitutional amendment entitled to a fair trial. These comments supporting those who murdered this person are wrong.

Bump for a great post!
Americans are unique in their protection of rights to the individual.

Thank God for our founders for our Constitution and Bill of Rights. God Bless America and damn those who would sink the basic tenets of our freedom.

I'm living in the greatest country in the history of the world. Seems like the right one to me.

The beliefs you've outlined on this thread are in direct conflict with those of the founding fathers.

"on suspicion of possessing child pornography"
SCENARIO:
Some jerk owns your computer as part of his windows botnet. He plants the porn on your comp because, well, that's just the sort of person he is.

SECENARIO:
Some jerk owns your computer and uses it to download child pornography so that /he/ won't get caught.

SCENARIO:
You block-download everything on a usenet porn group. (morally reprehensible...but justifying capital retribution?) Someone had posted child pornography in the group, so now your guilty of acquisition and possession.

All this has happened before... please do tell how it is that *you* know he was guilty?

Pretty sad when the inmates in California are better at dispensing justice than the state courts

"Uh, "innocent until proven guilty" was still the law the last time I checked, friend."

I agree.

The rule is also (or is it the law?) that only child pedophiles are to be executed at the hands of fellow inmates, not inmates charged on child pornography, which, btw, I agree.

Caveat: I'm no lawyer.

May be. Too bad we'll never know, because the FACTS were never established in the case. Maybe someone who hated his guts planted that stuff on him. Maybe he found it somewhere and didn't realize what it was. Maybe it was sent or given to him by mistake. It doesn't matter now. He's dead and he's going to stay dead whether he committed a crime or not.

Hypothetical: let's say someone who hates your guts mails you a copy of a kiddie porn magazine. You pick up the envelope at the post office, throw it in your car without opening it, and drive away on an errand. A few blocks away a cop stops you for a broken taillight, and, as you step out of the car, the envelope falls to the curb and breaks open, revealing the magazine. The cop cuffs you, drags you downtown, has you booked on kiddie porn charges, and you get thrown in the county lockup until the trial. After a few days, word gets around that you like to diddle kids. Not long after, you are surrounded in the shower by a crowd of inmates.

Question: do the inmates there have the right to beat you to death or not?

Which comments are you referring to?

The comments of one nutty poster?

Or the comments of the rest of us who realize his thoughts are those of an anarchist?
