Dave did you notice that Hastert is still Speaker?? Robert Novak and other GOP traitors said he was a LOCK to be gone by Friday. That was Rahm Emanuel's Gameplan, take down the Speaker, which keeps the story alive for weeks, and then Suppress Suppress!!! It failed.

Dave you are a strong Republican and appreciate your skepticism, but please realize current polling is based on the height of Foley. We still have 32 days my friend.

Of course this is not 1994; however, in 1994, all the pundits were saying-even on the eve of election-- at the very most GOP gains in House would be 3 or 4. It was 54.

How many of you have been polled lately? None of the pollsters ever seems to call my number. So I and people like me are a GOP secret weapon. No matter how ill I get with the idiots in the GOP, they appear to be geniuses when compared to Reid, Pelosi, et al.

We are NOT LOSING EITHER HOUSE OR SENATE! Just keep your powder dry, go to the polls and get all your friends, relatives and acquaintances there if possible.

ur optimism is refreshing. but....

the internationalist left has the newspapers, the courts, other media....they have been in the schools for generations.....have been working in congress for generations....and the most important of all, they promise everyone an opening of the federal treasury to the point of absurdity. (a sure recipe for victory)

they have all the time in the world...they are leftist religious zealots and dangerous ones at that.

A lot more Americans understand the danger of the geopolitical situation than we think. Most by now perceive the islamic threat and now believe Bush was right all along. that's because events are proving the republican analysis the correct one. We now have a lot of "lip service liberals" who won't say they are against muslims and want to nuke mecca if we are attacked again, but its damn sure how they will vote. Just watch in November. this is the number one overriding political issue by far for the next few elections at least.

Need better political analysis than "I can't see how everyone doesn't agree with me."

The blast was estimated at 150 Kt, not less than 20 kt.

Could be you're right. I'm going by what I heard last night before I went to bed.

No doubt that is a safe bet. But, just in case how do you like your shoes, fried or boiled?

I suspect that none of these Pollyannas boldly declaring that the Republicans are going to gain seats would ever actually put their money where their mouth is on that.

I beg to disagree there. I distinctly recall the night before the '94 election that most analysts said the Dems would lose dozens of seats. Then RNC chairman Haley Barbour stopped short of saying they would take a majority but he predicted a gain of more than 20. Robert Novak was one of the few who said the GOP would seize control with a prediction of 46. He fell a bit short. Even I was stunned the next night when they did as well as they did.

Midterm elections can always hold surprises. Most of the trends are not looking good for the GOP now but you never know. They could surge late, as they did in '02 and '04.

Just like your original post, a refutation without explanation. I think your going to be eating your shoes my friend. I hope they're hippie flip flops, not good ole' conservative work boots.(smile)My analysis is based on the 2004 election and the events since. What's your analysis based on? A foot fetish.

We were watching different news channels. I think I watched a little of ABC-Peter Jennings? and his cronies. He must have had on the DNC spokesperson, and they were in total denial of any except minimal GOP gains..
Haley Barbour usually had it right. He was the best at putting Dems down the GOP has ever had. He would go right to the heart of the matter and state the obvious with humor and certainty.

The current crop of republicans/conservatives are the most inarticulate yet, they do the right thing, and then let the democrats twist and demonize the right thing. Why are so many conservatives so inarticulate???

They do the right thing? Unfortunately if they had been doing enough of "the right thing" then the election would not be a worry for them.

What have the Republican majorities done to: shrink the size of government, reduce or even control government spending, immigration problems, reduce dependency on foreign oil, and more?

Yes I definitely remember Novak on CNN saying GOP +46. I thought it would never happen. I can't remember the name of the other pollster/analyst who said they would take 35 seats but the GOP would convince enough moderate Dems to switch so they would have a majority. Doug something was his name.

I love Gov Barbour and wish he would run for president in '08 but it seems like he isn't interested. I sure would prefer him to McCain or Giuliani.

TNC, Barbour is working with Rove and Mehlman right now, believe me.

http://www.electionprojection.com my friend Scott Elliot was voted the best predictor of 2004 and has the GOP holding the House and believes that GOTV will keep the senate.

I believe a 60% majority is needed to do whatever they please.
