But the Royals did their best to get 'em ready for this.

This is a morale booster for an area that really needs it with the Big Three choking.

This significant achievement by the Tigers organization will be totally lost on too many in the Detroit metro area.......who have no interest in anything other than the latest street thuggishness of the NBA.
I offer no apologies for this statement. Truth is truth.

Congrats to the Tigers - and what a highlight way to reach the World Series. They look like a team of destiny.
And just think. The weather in Michigan has turned cold just in time for rioters to warm the city with all those burned cars and buildings in celebration.

The Detroit Tigers celebrate with Magglio Ordonez (30) who hit a three-run game-winning homerun in the ninth inning to beat the Oakland Athletics 6-3 and clinch the American League pennant in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series in Detroit, Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006. Oakland wins too!
We've got to make it so that nobody loses. That way, nobody's self-esteem is damaged. So Oakland is also a winning team and they will travel to the world series and sit in the Detroit dugout and share in the glory.
That is the only way it should be.

After the way their regular season ended, I never expected them to survive the first round.
Jim Leyland must have had some magic words and the players clearly love their manager.

Oh the Tigers of my boyhood. PawPaw Maxwell, Al Kaline, Harvey Kuenn, Jim Bunning, Frank Lary and Paul Foytack pitching, Eddie Yost at 3rd. Briggs Stadium. We had it all, except for the fact that the stinkin' Yankees kept gettin' in front of us. They were the big prima donas then, some things never change.
I threw away a dozen Mickey Mantle cards. Kinda like the Cub's Bleacher Ethics: "Throw it back!! I'm proud that I stood up FOR PRINCIPLES.

Excellent! An arch-fan I know was talking to me about the Tigers back around the all-star break, and I said that they were going to the Series. That didn't look too great during their three game slide in KC. :')
Who hit the game winner?
