GOP Strategists Say Democrats Likely to Take House (ABC does DNC work)

And Not Only the House--GOP Insiders Say Democrats Could Win Senate Too

Optimism and realism are two of the essential ingredients for winning in politics.

During the three national election victories presided over by George W. Bush and his top political adviser Karl Rove — in 2000, 2002 and 2004 — the Republican Party had reason to be both optimistic and realistic about its prospects for victory.

But regarding the 2006 midterms, just three weeks away, many Republican strategists and party donors believe the only realistic position is one that's far from optimistic. With an unpopular war hanging over their heads and President Bush in his sixth year in office (when a president's party typically suffers significant congressional losses), numerous Republican sources believe that Democrats are likely to win more than the 16 seats they need to win back control of the House and could possibly gain the six Senate seats required to resume control of that chamber.

Republican "ghosties" say that PRESIDENT Bush and Rove are delusional. HA!! De-Nile is what the Dems are going to be floating down on election day... IMO, Dems, the MSM, and Pelosi (stretch marks be upon her) are going to be in for a shock.

Barone did not say that the democrat “will take” at least one of the Houses of Congress, he did say that they may “likely” take the House but it is “not certain”. Anyway I do respect Barone a lot but I trust President Bush and Karl Rove much more because they have much more detailed and accurate information on what is going on than any other media pundit. Both the President and Rove said that we will keep control of the both Houses of Congress and I believe them.

Both "main-street" Republicans and all of the Democrats continue to completely abandon true, conservative principles! Both political parties have too many politicians at every political level who are still for out of control government spending and for amnesty for illegal immigrants. In Massachusetts, most of the local Republicans at every level are very liberal and are also for gay marriage. Many Republicans in Massachusetts are even more liberal than their Democratic counterparts. Politics in Massachusetts continues to be so strange.

They are trying to create doubt so that when the Republicans win, there will be cries of "Diebold!"

Right there is your reason why all the McCain campaign finance reform cr@p was total bull$h!t.

The MSM carries major water and donates in free advertisement a billion dollars to Democrats weakly disguised as news.

There can be no debate about how the MSM works for Democrats during all elections, and since that is the case, it is beyond borderline retarded for people like McCain to ever suggest any campaign reform.

If conservative people want to donate a 100 million to offset the billion the MSM gives Democrats, then so be it, but what happens now is BS.

"in 2000, 2002 and 2004 — the Republican Party had reason to be both optimistic and realistic about its prospects for victory."

Uh, right, like that is what the MSM told us then????

BS. They always cheerlead for the democrats. They did it then, they are doing it now.

I truly hope the constant media predictions give democrats complacency. Reducing their turnout.

And Republicans turn out in "rove's droves."

And Republicans win.

Not quite: Barone said it "was possible." Perhaps he used the word "likely." But I think he's covering his butt.

LS says the GOP gains one seat in each house.

I'm IN Ohio, and I can tell you the Daily Kos is right to worry. We have seen NO evidence of a Dem ground game at all---NONE. This is 2004 all over again, except better for us. I truly think the polls are as bogus as a jackalope, and that they've been manipulated by overcounting Dems.

GOP to gain ONE SEAT in each house.

After listening to the angst at the Daily Kos...

When (not if) we retain both houses, I'm gonna get the popcorn, sit back and enjoy watching these moonbat-lemmings commit mass political-suicide.

I agree. The Republican turn-out machine is going to knock the Dems. and their Clown Car Media puppets back on their heels. They don't see what we see either, that Republicans are so pissed off at the extremism of the Democrats and the open way in which the media is helping them in this election that we are going to come out to vote in droves. Like you say, they just don't get it and they don't know what's about to hit them.

That's it. Democrats could never win an election without dirty tricks, election fraud, Movies and MSM total support with their own lies and dirty tricks, personal destruction of opposition, billionaires, etc. Even with all of that at mega supply, they lost.

We must do all we can to get out the vote and speak out in favor of good candidates, but don't anyone think that W could have won those two elections with the onslaught of democratic dirty politics without the prayers and, I believe, God's will for the country to have him in the ultimate position of power.

Christians need to continually pray for our leaders, our government and ask Him to put Godly men and women in government positions and that his perfect will be done for our good. No opposition can defeat that.

The historical average is 40.3 seats. Seriously. In the sixth year of a Presidency, the President's party from the civil war up until 1998 when Clinton had his sixth year in congress was for 40.3 lost seats for the President's party and around 7 in the Senate.

That isn't going to happen this time. Even when you consider worst case scenarios, people aren't predicting that kind of blowback. The wild scenario with dims winning the house would be under historical norms. I have a feeling it will be much under. I am thinking 8-18 seats right now in the house, maybe 3 in the Senate. The dims could very well win the house, but it's stupid to suggest it's a done deal. Those here who think it's stupid to suggest it could not happen though are in denial as well. The house is going to be a toss up.
