Strange bedfellows: Michael Savage Donates to Democrats
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 10/16/06 | arual

Strange bedfellows: It turns out that ultra-hot conservative talk show host Michael Savage is backing Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown for state attorney general. "What can I say? I think he'd make a great attorney general compared to the other guy. By the way, who is the other guy?'' Savage said, when asked why he chose Democrat Brown over conservative Republican Chuck Poochigian. Savage, whose rants can be heard locally on KNEW-AM, is backing up his hot talk with some hot money as well. Savage Productions, which lists Savage as president and his wife, Janet Weiner, as director, has donated $5,600 to Brown's campaign. "You have to make choices in an imperfect world,'' Savage said. "And this, this Machugian guy. (Like we said, it's Poochigian.) I never heard of him. I don't even know who he is." Poochigian has spent the past 12 years in Sacramento, first in the Assembly and now in the Senate. Doesn't impress the president of the Savage Nation. "Why bet on a horse that isn't going to win? Why throw your money into the garbage?'' So how did the best-selling author of "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder'' wind up backing a liberal once nicknamed "Governor Moonbeam"? "People change. He changed. He has experience,'' Savage said of Brown. "He started the Oakland military academy -- that was a good thing." And Brown's politics? "He's moved to the center, which is what this socialist state needs," Savage said.

I am still a HUGH savage fan, I don't care who he donates to. Unlike Rush and Levin fans, we don't take everything Savage says as Gospel. I mainly listen to Savage for his rants on TROP. Savage is still the man as far as I am concerned.

Ya, I heard him say once if it were not for him Limbaugh would have never gotten a radio show. That Limbaugh owes his success to him.

Bush is the President. Savage is a talk show host. Guess who has more power to ruin the country?

Don't "real conservatives" ever get tired of supporting the lesser of 2 evils?

Yes, the Dubai ports deal was much ado about nothing. It was a scam designed to make Bush bad by the liberals, and Savage and his apostles fell for it, hook, line, and sinker.

And yes, having been in the combat arms (Air Assault) in the US Army --- in Iraq --- the first time and with many, many friends there today, I can say our stragy is the best stratgey we can have, given that have our nation are spinless cowards.

Indeed, my friends on the ground tell me we would have won and stabilized Iraq years ago, but for second-guessing and winning from the liberals and the media --- such as Doc. Wiener --- who give the terrorists hope and resolve by belittling our leaders and strategy.

"The guy is a hard-right Conservative..."

Wow, the total BS that some people are led to believe.

I am a hard-right Conservative, and have been capable of recognizing my fellow brethren my entire life.

This one is easy, Savage is a pretender, a fake, a BS snake-oil salesman who if people actually listened and scrutinized what he said, would come to the same sane conclusion.

It is Savage's hatred for Rush Limbaugh that fuels my disgust for Savage.

Looks like you're wearing those rose-colored glasses about Iraq.

I never really supported or opposed the war from the start. I thought removing Saddam Hussein would be good, but I always have opposed any kind of nation building, and 9/11 didn't change that.

But this war hasn't gone well. How many American soldiers have died and how many billions have been spent? That ain't a conservative or liberal thing, no matter how the true-believers say. Plus, it's a drag domestically. Think about it, Iraq will be the biggest reason why republicans lose seats this November, and possibly lose a majority in one of the chambers. Is Iraq worth a speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi? More gun control? More taxes? More liberal social issues? I'm having doubts.

The costs of this war, coupled with the whole nation building crapola, are really making me think if liberating people, some grateful many not, from Saddam was and is really worth the building price tag.

I've attempted to listen to Michael Savage in recent days. I never could stand a lot of that "psychological nudity." Now that he has apparently, for some reason, has gone over to the dark side, I just can't handle listening to him.

I cannot imagine how he is not losing much of his audience.

"The savage cultists will splain this away... no problem."

I can remember when DFU breathlessly posted his schedule here every day. I wonder what he thinks now. Not that I care.

So we just keep doing what we're doing until 2010, with maybe 5,000 American soldiers dead and over a trillion spent. Is that right?

"Unlike Rush and Levin fans, we don't take everything Savage says as Gospel. "

Oh man, that is classic Weiner-isms.

1) Deflect criticism by criticizing someone else
2) Ignore what Weiner stands for

You can tell Savage fans are economic morons from the fact that those con-artist "gold coin" companies chose to so heavily advertise on his show.
